Great Works placement and tourism

I was just wondering if there was any advantage or strategy of placing great works and artifacts in certain cities besides the culture boost to acquiring tiles? I guess what I am really wondering is, would I want my cities that have trade routes to be packed with great works to increase tourism, or does it not matter what city has the great works with regard to generating tourism pressure?
