I just wanted everyone to see how the *civs* are doing in our reality in year 2013. :D

I'll post the most obvious civs first, as some of the civs in the game are very complicated to figure out their modern successor Eg. Zulu (Are they part of South Africa now or what?) :)

Anyhow, it's going to take a while to complete... If I can even complete the list. :crazyeye:

The order of civilizations will totally be random, I will just pick a civ and start gathering info - if it gets too complicated, I will put it aside for later.

Most of information will be from online and please let me know if you can find an error. :)

For Democracy index, I will be using democracy index of 2012 - it's published in 2013 from The Economist Intelligence Unit.

I'll try to use most up-to-date data whenever possible. ;)

As I got to Egypt, I thought of the famous divided nation on Earth... The North vs South, communism vs capitalism.

So I decided to include both under Korea.

The gap between South and North is enormous... This really shows how same people from same background can have really different future.

What I found funny was that the authoritarian North Korea had the word *democratic* in their official name.

For Greece, I decided to just go with modern Greece...

I know they had a great empire, and many modern nations were part of it. But I simply can't do them all :)

Also those of nations later went on to start their own empires :D

As I was compiling this, I was saddened to see Greece going under a tough economic hardship.

I will upload China(PRC+Taiwan), Japan, France, Germany and Ottomans(Turkey) tomorrow.

I'm still wondering what to do with;

Rome (All those Mediterranean territories!!!)

England and Celts (should I combine them into UK?)

Carthage (Tunis + Algiers maybe?)

Arabia (Saudi Arabia + so many other Arab nations...)

ect...

I can't even imagine what to do with the Huns :D

Anyway, please let me know of any errors and feel free to comment!

Cheers

Fantastic work :D. Must've taken a lot of effort.

On England and Scotland, just combine them into one nation. We aren't independent unless people vote yes, so we're still one nation.

Agree. Just make the Celts represent Ireland.

Do you realise with what little understanding the real world is ruled, my friends? It may look in order, but it isn`t.

They`re all almost as bad as the AI.

enjoyed it! I found it interesting.

Thanks, some countries don't publish these international stats *cough* North Korea *cough* and it was bit annoying to leave it as blank :)

Alright, I will do England -> UK :) (What's gonna happen in 2014 Scotland though?)

Celts -> Republic of Ireland :D

Nice quote from the pope there - forgot which one :)

Of course the real world is much more complicated and can not be represented with a few statistics, but this post can still be used to paint a general picture of how they are doing as a nation.

Anyway... so, nobody has problems with the *global firepower index* or the *democracy index*???

I was worried people might have problem with theses figures. :)

For example, Greece doesn't have full democracy, it's considered to be flawed :crazyeye:

For Manpower, you should add the active soldiers, and the ones in reserve so that way we know how many soldiers each nation has both active and in reserve

Yep. It's already included in the *global firepower index*

http://www.globalfirepower.com/ - you can visit their site and see how they come up with the index. :)

They use a whole lot more of data to calculate the index.

Who has unlocked the most social policies?

Unfortunately, :c5culture: is something I really wanted to include on the list, but just could not find a way to quantify and measure.

Sorry Galileo... I have failed you :D

*Nope*
Have England represent England (or Britain, whichever suits) but the Celts are meant to represent the 6 Celtic nations:
Scotland
Wales
Ireland
Isle of Man
Cornwall
& The Channel Islands.

Now, obviously the last 2 are too small to find, but please at the very least combine Wales, Scotland and the Rep. of Ireland.

Now it's China...

Both People's Republic of China (PRC) and Republic of China (ROC) will be its successor nations.

PRC - Mainland China with one party communist system.

ROC - Island China of Taiwan with multiparty democracy.

It's very interesting.
What does it mean "no religion" ?
Does "no religion" is atheism ?

You'd just answered your own question.

@josh. How is that gonna work? England today, consist of Scotland, Wales, England, and Northern Ireland. The Celts are strongly misrepresented in CiV. They do not represent any modern civ, but take in consider that England had conquered Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland, that means the Celts must represent the Rep. of Ireland. Plus, this is 2013, not 15whatever
