Tie Fighter in XP

Got the itch to play Tie Fighter this week, but it has compatibility problems with XP. If I run it in win9x compatibility mode it won't recognize my USB joystick and won't load. I found instructions for using Windows Application Compatibility Toolkit 2.0 to fix it, but only 3.0 is available for download, and it doesn't list Tie Fighter Collectors CD as one of the things it fixes.

I had some problem with a joystick and XP also... But this one isn't USB.

Just to clarify a bit, the joystick isn't the problem, that works with other games. One of the steps on that other website had something to do with joysticks, so I think that's part of the patch.

I used a mouse on my 486 on Tie fighter...i'm having trouble getting Tie working win2000...Just messes up the screen and doesn't load..
