CivilizationEDU Coming to US High Schools

Take-Two Interactive has announced that CivilizationEDU, an educational version of Sid Meier's Civilization V, will make its way inside American high school classrooms in late 2017. A press release notes:

Holy cow! I'm kinda curious about how something like this can work.

Have often wondered myself if Civilisation could be, or actually is, used in class.
I have seen the powerfull way in which this game brings history alive for kids and gives them clues and a frame when a subject is brought up in history class.
Like: "The king of the Franks? Oh yes, that was Charlemagne." (Civ4)
"William of Orange? from the Dutch? Ha, he kept happiness after trading all his luxuries.... Now I understand the dutch golden age -> they were happy to trade, and could expand more easily than others..." (Civ5)

Well, this has it's limitations of course.

Bring it dutch schools also!

what happens when the kid comes in the next day and is like, sorry teach, I was playing civ 6 instead.

or the kids just refuse to play it because its 1 unit per turn. rofl!

Awesome! The sole reason I have an interest in history is Civilization, so I'm glad to see there actually is some progress in this.

Cool. Children will learn that a state gets happier from being bombarded. (Less population = less unhappiness.)

Jokes aside, it's a great opportunity for the franchise, and a fun way for kids to learn.
