Any strategy to Research Agreements??

my only strategy is to NOT sign one with someone that is either ahead of me or close to me in Science. Sign with everyone else

i understand why would have this strategy, but since they nerfed RAs i find that signing them with people who are too far behind can be completely pointless. i've had RAs mature to only save me a turn or so in science. is that really worth the cost in gold and benefits to the AI?
Worth the cost in gold to you: Only if you aren't subjected to the era penalty.
As to benefits to an AI an era behind you, doesn't really matter.
