Hello all.

I've been playing Civ 4 for many moons now, blissfully happy to let the computer handle most of the micromanagement, however I recently got a taste for a more hands on approach. And what have I learnt?.....that Civ4 is a VAST and complex creature!! I've never played a game that gets better and better ever time. Interest in a game usually peaks at some point and then drops off? Even Halo got a wee bit boring the 50th time round. But not Civ4.

However, reading the hundreds of threads contained here it is instantly apparent that a lot of suggestions boil down to personal preference and how people play. A testament to the quality and programming of the game!

But getting to the point, finally (sorry for the waffle) Given the wealth of options/victory conditions available, Is a definitive guide even possible? What are your thoughts? Have you come across any guides that completely changed your understanding of the game? Can you recommend them?

Anyway, many thanks for taking the time to read this. :)

Hello d_jones72, and welcome to the forums! :)

Well, it is a huge game and it would be very difficult to make a single guide which would fit the many (many, many!) different playing styles of different people.

We do have a section of Strategy & Tips articles that are very helpful depending on what your style of play is.

Good luck and happy Civving. :)

PS: Here's a randomly chosen example. Has to do with combat:
