Civilization Request Thread

No one said you couldn't. Hell, if you're any good at programming, you could help out with this one if you wanted.

It's probably never going to happen from me, to be honest - I have way too much on my hands already. I'm not incredibly interested in helping you either, because your design is not what I'd like it to be - you want a civ that captures the spirit of the games, while I want (a) civ(s) that represent(s) the lands as they are in the game, i.e. more personal i.e. more JFDian.

I'm not saying that there is anything wrong with your design, because there really isn't, I'm just saying we want to pursue different types of representation.

There's already 2 other Hyrule mods out there...

And neither are what I'd like them to be; it's the same as with the LOTR and MLP civs, they just don't satisfy my needs.

Actually, what'd also be really cool as a civilization is the Twilight realm, run by Midna. I don't know what it's trait would be, though.

Ooh, that is a good idea. The whole idea of the Twilight Realm, and even Twilight itself, would lend itself well to some concepts related to territory control. By the way, in case it wasn't obvious, I am looking for a programmer for the Zelda civ.

Here are some ideas I have. I know they're not perfect and I have not played Civ for a couple of months so criticism is appreciated. If someone should decide to make them, it would be nice to respect my wishes or at least add me on steam so we can discuss changes, but ultimately I can never make them myself so it's up to you and I respect your time and energy.

Snow civ
Spoiler :

UA: Brave the elements
Cities adjacent to snow or tundra tiles gain 1 local happiness. Tundra tiles without forest gain 1 food and snow tiles generate 1 culture and faith. Capital is founded with god king palace.

UI : Arctic research station
Generates 1 food, production, gold and science from snow tiles. +3 Science with Scientific Theory researched.

UB: Cathedral
Replaces temple. Convert 1 citizen from cities you control with a cathedral to your religion each turn.

Starting bias: tundra

Free civ
Spoiler :
UA: all in a day's work
Units, tiles and buildings have no maintenance cost. Hammers increase local happiness. Buildings that generate gold generate an equal amount of hammers. Units and buildings can no longer be purchased. Cannot build citizens. Tiles can only be worked by having a melee unit on it.

UU: Cannot build workers, melee units improve tiles instead.

Additional perk to be added.

Starting bias : grassland

The dictator
Spoiler :
Leader : Kim Jong un

UA: Death to America
Always denouncing america, cannot make friendships with civilisations who have declared friendship to America, being friends with China boosts gold and production in cities. Cannot research internet unless china has researched it. Cannot select freedom ideology. Workers can only be built by spending citizens.

UB: Work camp
Replaces barracks. Cities have 25% more production in cities with work camps. Can create hammers by expanding citizens.

So, I don't know how much the server migration played into it, but I still haven't really heard anything from anyone about interest in trying to program my idea for a Zelda Civ. If you are interested in trying to help me make it work, let me know; Doktor has made some pretty awesome art assets that I'd hate to see go to waste.

Unfortunately, I don't think I could help you with that. :undecide: It might be for the best anyway: any sort of project I might do, civ or otherwise, is more or less on hold until I get to the bottom of some health issues. Feel free to experiment though, and if you're really interested, PM me and I can send you some of the files. (All purely image components at present)

An idea I had that I just thought of (In fact, I might even do it myself)

Civilization: The Pikmin

Leader: Olimar

UA: Onion Processor: Gain food from kills

UU: Captain, replaces Great General

Well since everybody talking about Fictional Civs:
Springfield
Homer Jay Simpson
UA: City of Eccentricities
May not train Settlers or Annex Cities, All Specialists within the Empire generate +1 :c5greatperson: GP Points, It is increased based on the number of Buildings constructed each generating Points towards a respective Great Person*, All Buildings cost 50% less Maitnence
UB: Kwik-E-Mart (Market)
+15% :c5gold: Gold, +1 :c5food: Food for every Kwik-E-Mart built, +2 :c5food: for every Trade Route, may randomly generate a Unique Resource of "Buzz Cola" near the City generating +1 :c5gold: Gold and +10% :c5greatperson: Great Person generation upon Improvement
UGP: Great Clown (Great Artist)
Does not create Great Works but instead "Great Performances" generating +1 :c5happy: Happiness and +1 :c5culture: Culture for every Circus, Stadium, or Ampitheater within the City, may construct "Sideshows" generating +1 :c5culture: Culture and +1 :c5greatperson: Great Clown Points for every Specialist within the City while in workable range

*Factories, Forges, Workshops etc are towards Great Engineers. Barracks, Arsenals, Castles etc towards Great Generals, so on and so forth
It's pretty OP but I'll make some reforms later on.

Shouldn't Springfield be led by Mayor Quimby?

I don't really consider Mayor Quimby an actual leader of Springfield, people like Mr.Burns, Homer, and maybe even Ned or Bart I think have had a much more profound impact on the City of Springfield as whole, especially Homer considering during the Stonecutters episode he did a lot of public projects and other works for Springfield, Mr.Burns also did similar things albeit for different reasons, so for better or for worse they have changed Springfield much more profoundly than the Mayor

Yeah I did think that was super weird

Here's an idea:

DPRK (North Korea):

Leader: Kim Jong Un

UA: Juche: Denouncement by other major civs creates golden age points.

UU: KPAGF: Replaces Infantry. Weaker than the unit it replaces, but much easier to build and maintain.
