You CAN beat Deity but do YOU enjoy it?

After playing the game for so long I almost always roll Deity. Can't say I finish a lot of my games, but that's more because I get bored of the game rather than the tedious difficulty. Rolling all random, Deity, Epic speed and no restarts (starting position) always makes for a fun and challenging game though. The victory screen after a Deity game is always a good feeling too, I guess that's why I haven't touched another difficulty for a while.

I don't think “extremely rare” is accurate. Judging from the DCLs, an AI being able to win before T300 is at least 1 in 5 games. Maybe more? People tend not to share the games they lose!

That's actually a lot, I didn't expect that. I trust you on your numbers though. Even my very latest games (my first space victory ever) ended before T300, most of them before T250 so I'm not really qualified to comment on how often the AI wins before T300. I expected it to be one out of ten games maybe.
