Quick question

Does anyone know if I get the complete edition of the game which contains the original game, expansions and all released content, when I enter the code into steam, will it recognize that I already have the vanilla version or will it try to download twice? and will it still keep my progress/saved games etc??

Yes, to the second -- your saved games will be preserved. As to your first question, don't know specifically, but the game version will be the same and it's such a large download anyway that it probably doesn't matter.
