Trade Route Limit?

I just got civ 5 and am playing as the Iroquois. I am trying to get a cultural or diplomatic victory. This brings me to trade routes. I have to maximum caravans and cargo chips and most of them go through my capital. That is not including foreign trade routes that go through my capital that is growing all the time. currently the year in my game is around 1600 ad and I would like to know if there is a limit if trade routes in one city.

No limit in cities.

Only limits empire wide. You increase it by researchign techs as well as by Colossus and Petra.

In the no mods games, you get TRs as you go up the tech tree; but for 'modders' there ARE mods for extra TRs .

No. But there is a limit of one trade route from city X to city (state) Y. So if city X is currently running a caravan to city Y, it will not have the option of sending a cargo ship there.

Dushku has it right; City X CAN target a TR to the CS Saywhaa'; but CANNOT send a second TR to Saywhaa' . However, if cities Y, Z, A, and B are in range to send their own TRs to Saywhaa', but only 1 from city-of-origin to target city . Somewhat like focus-fire of 3 archers taking, down a horse unit .

1 trade route between cities only. Exception: 1 trade route coming back
