I usually play a lot of multiplayer games with my friends, and we all like domination victories. For me, I like to have a technologicaly advanced civ, usually one or two eras ahead. But I haven't played for a long time, so I've already forgotten my old tactics. Are there any good strategies that are focused COMPLETELY on science, with no regard for anything else (besides production and food, of course), or is it downright impossible to have mechanized infantry by the late 1800s?

I don't have Babylon or Korea, either. I do have G&K though.

Basically, beeline to Education straigth from the beginning (only take a sidestep to luxury techs you need, or a military tech if you're getting attacked). Thengo accoustics to hit renaaisance first. The next policy you pick should be rationalism, and fill the tree out. Now go pick up the oter techs you might have skipped and then beeline for Scientific Theory. Make sure you keep all your specialists running in both Universities and Public Schools from this point. And if you want to sign RA's, don't do it before you hit over a 100bpt. Otherwise it isn't really worth it.
This is like the most basic opening strategy for fadt sciende.

I cannot fathom a "good" strategy in multiplayer or single player that focuses "COMPLETELY" on science, if by that you mean "no military." You say your friends like domination VC. Do you have some understanding that they will leave you alone until you sweep the map with mech infantry on turn xxx?

They would usually be scared of my tech progress, but they never see that I only have a few units. So yeah, pretty much.
