First off, we have 180 Gold. 40 of this is dedicated to an Upgrade.

There is some talk of Embassies, which is good somewhat.

There is also a Temple we can rush. Pete. Rushing now will cost us only 60 Gold. Rushing in 5 will cost us only 40. Same price as an Embassy.

Now, for Settlement.

We have 1 Settler, and almost nowhere to put it. (Except, of course, the old Culture War and Roman Iron standbys.)

Or do we...

Look at this pic, and tell me.

Dark Blue = Babs current Borders, Dark Red = Roman current Borders, Light of each = Temple Radius, Purple = Iro current = Iro Temple.

I saw that spot but hadn't decided if it was good. On one hand: It will be very corrupt and a flip risk. On the other hand: If we can get a temple and a barracks in there it will be a good forward base for military actions. We could probably hand-build the barracks, but would need to rush a temple. On the 3rd hand: If we can get there early enough and rush a temple right away we could use it as a lever to try and flip Fllipi or Pisae.

On the 4th hand: this would be another city in my province. It is of critical stratgic importance that we found a city in this location immediately ;) Good thing I've got all these extra arm grafts or I couldn't argue so good.

That is one possible place. Risky tho, it can flip easily.
Second would be to squeeze a city in the jungle near silks. Less risk to flip.
Third, W or NW of Pete, near France there is more unsettled land.

Right in the middle of the Large Jungle near Intombe? Or are you wishing to crowd TimBently's Province more?

Yeah. All Desert. But we have irrigation at least.

Too bad this, say it with me now, isn't Conquests!

We really need a "No Conquests" Smiley...

Corruption is totally redone in Conquests, taking into account the order of which you found your cities and by having an optimal city number.

Both Sir Donald III's idea and a site beyond Pete would have corruption well beyond 60% (Sir Donald's is farther than Regent Town which has 60% corruption and Pete has 64% corruption), assuming a connection to Fanatikku and no courthouse. Corruption in the Roman iron and culture war locations, as well as the jungle site would be reasonable. All of those locations seem a little cramped, but we have to settle somewhere (or send the settler on a galley to found an even more corrupt city).

What I meant by "TIC" is that no Civ had an Agricultural trait that would've made Desert = Plain when Irrigated.

It looks like embassy with France is going straight through, embassy with Zulu is 50/50 at the moment and embassy with Babylon is unlikely. I'd say we'll be spending about 80g on Embassies this turn

I just thought of something... We could try and send one FAR north to the furs as a fur colony...

yes, that and all the oil that they are heading for. The AI will probably leave enough gaps that we could squeeze inbetween to AI cities and use a temple rush to infringe on the AI's territory to grab a fur. Its even better if the AI roads te fur for us ;)

This is definately worth considering and a better option than founding a UN city down in the south.

We'll be moving by galley. They're moving by tile. (we get 3 tiles regardless, they don't).
