I was posting in a thread in OT ("Fall of the US Empire") - the last preceeding post was also by me, some hour or so earlier. I didn't feel like editing it into the old post since it's wasn't about the same thing as the old one.

Nonetheless, the new stuff somehow got copied into the old post. I edited it, cut out the new stuff, and posted it again, with the same result - it was merged into the old one. Is this some new functionality, or a glitch?

Would be an interesting feature I guess the only way to test it is to make a double post...

And here is that double post...

Clever feature :)

With this feature does it mean that we may as well get rid of the 30 second rule?

Hmm, let's see how that works.

This way maybe?

EDIT: Interesting. But it can be problematic for very long posts, like TLC mentioned.

You just make another post in the same thread at least 30 seconds after the first one and as long as someone else hasn't posted in between your posts will merge. My last post was 3 separate posts.

Here's some info from TF:

It will only merge posts if the last posted post is posted within an hour by the poster. If it's newer than one hour, posts will be merged and the thread will be bumped.

The timestamp of the merged post is also updated with each merge.

The hack also checks for things like post size, # of image attachments, etc. So it's not possible to have a post that exceeds the max post size limit. A new post will be created instead of merging

So when I post an essay or something that is quite long, it isn't going to merge the two posts if I decide to break it up into to posts?

Muwah ha ha! 2 birds with one stone. Spam curtailed and double posting ended. :D Best feature ever!

Really? I didn't know this feature existed.

Useful thing.

Even as a spammer ( :p ), I must say I am impressed and glad.

I noticed this too... Thought it might be some sorta bug

Gosh, glad I setup my NES thread before this was implemented, or this would have been beyond aggrivating.

No, cause technically your not editing
I'm not so sure about that

I want to test this, please don't post here until I finish testing (should only be 5 minutes)

Test concluded, resume posting
