*** GAME FINISHED ***

The Protestants (that is actually the Dutch mostly) won a VPs victory in July 1620.

Hi all,

welcome to the "Alba" (aka the Duke of Iron) PBEM based on my Great Armada scenario.

The scenario is playable but still missing some flavor art. This PBEM will then be both a game and a "real-life" test so please acknowledge this.

Priority will be given to testers and only people with whom I have played already will be taken as it is my "baby" lol.

The civs are far from being balanced one to one but the two alliances have fair chances.

Civs : 8
Catholics :
- Spain : Predesad
- Irish Clans : Detlef
- French league : Eric_A (it is gonna be tough for me !!!)
Protestants :
- England : Aeon 221
- France : Loulong
- Netherlands : Portuga
Others :
- Maghrib (Muslims) (also at war with Spanish) : Random Fan
- Scots : Ironduck

Players : 8
- Loulong : France
- Ironduck : Scotland
- Aeon 221 : England
- Random Fan
- Detlef : Irish Clans
- Predesad : Spain
- Portuga : Netherlands
- Eric_A : League

SPECIAL RULES :
- no city razing or abandonning. Selling all improvements authorized
- 1st turn no fight
- 5 turns no alliance with Scotland (Scotland can attack whoever it wants though).
- no Spanish landing directly into France-controlled coastal areas (means SW of France)

I downloaded this one too but played only a couple of turn because of the lack of time :( so I guess I do not qualify as tester. But if you want me in this one just don't give me someone important

i might be interested, if you would have me, i have never played w/ you before except the expansionists which has just recently started, anyway, let me know

ironduck, who is in your pbem already, can vouch that i am a consistent player as we played in a pbem together which moved well and when i had to drop out for medical reasons i could not control i made sure to get a replacement

LouLong, i have an 1 year old doughter, so i know how to care about babys.
Please sign me in. But i havn't played this already. Can you post the link, to download the scenario?

@ Random, predesad and Detlef :

you MUST download and try the scenario out (so in a way you'd be beta-testers) so that you can :
- make sure it works (VERY IMPORTANT).
- make sure you like the settings, the scenario type (before now than when the PBEM has started).
- choose your civ

At the moment you must download the files posted on this page (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=100601&page=5) :
- first the main art file (around 20 MB) in post 85
- second the TGA update folder (unzip and overwrite) in post 83
- third the texts update (overwrite) and the v0.97 beat biq in post 98

Once you have started playing it, make a screen capture not before 1590 AD then send it to me and you will be signed in.

REMEMBER this will be a test and that some art is missing (placeholder art for a few units, except if you all go after Steph for him to finish Rider, Ducth musketeer, Royal Mounted Musketeer,...) so it is not perfect (I mean apart from the fact it is only a human creation of course). Othre problems (bugs or balance) can occur so ths game may well end before its natural end (120 turns).

@Akots : not immediately, I need to make sure players can actually play the scenario. But playtests are getting better, all civs have been tested, strategies proven, units are working, improvements and wonders as well. I have actually found the way to resolve the tercio captured aboard a boat capture yesterday (well I tested it only once and it worked). Apart from that mostly I am waiting for some art and for infos on balancing unit and improvement cost and that is actually best seen in MP.
And your opinion about country balance (well, they are not supposed to be balanced but I think you get what I mean) and units stats would be extremely welcome.
So don't hesitate.
I expect it to start next week with v 0.99, wednesday or later if I get news about some art being delivered soon.

@ Detlef : I hope you don't behave with your baby as I do with mine (playing up till late with "him/her" lol

OK, i have downloaded the files. I think i can check it today and tomorrow. I hope you want not start so fast. After the test, i can give you my prefered civ. I think about something like scots or cath. ireland.
By the way, i'am shure, my doughter is happy with a night full of playing, not sleeping.

The first few problems coming up:

- the Arab Pikeman.ini is missing at your files (I copied from English and changed it)
- I can't select Gallowglass from the prodlist as Irish (i can only build knights and some buildings)

i think i installed wrong because i got a missing pediaicons error when i tried to load it, no more time tonight will try again tomorrow

@ Detlef : Arab Pikeman INi : yep you are right, forgot to add it in the update.
Galloglass : are you using biq v0.97 as this was corrected in that version ?

@ Predesad : you must upgrade the files using the TGA folder. If you did it and you still have a pediaicon pb, thanks to let me know which one is missing. Something strange is you are the only one who had such a pediaicon pb.

Attached pikeamn INI which should be put into

Conquests/Scenarios/TGA/Art/Units/Arab Pikeman folder

Yes, 0.97, but it didn't work. Each city starts with gallowglass, but it doesn's show in the prod-list.

:crazyeye:

OK my wild guess is you did not download/install the big (20 MB) main art files properly.

The main TGA zip should be unzipped in C3C/Scenarios which should install all the folders in their correct places.
Then download the small TGA zip udate, unzip in the same directory and choose overwrite.
Then download the latest texts zip and unzip the content (or place as there are only 3 files) in the C3C/Scenarios/TGA/Texts folder.
And install the Arab Pikeman INI as well as explained above.
Then place v 0.97 in C3C Scenarios and load it from Civ-content.

Sorry it is a long tedious process but since it is still a test version I did not want people to have to download a new 20 MB file avery time.

It works for the others so it should work for you. Trebuchets are not even buildable in this game ...

since others were able to download & play the scenario i just assumed i installed it incorrectly, i tried to do it quickly because i had a lot to do last night. i am sure i just did something wrong & i will get it right later tonight when i try again, i was just letting you know i had tried to download / install the scenario.

@LouLong: I believe I done exactly all the steps you described... Maybe I something slightly wrong. I'll try again.

I played the spanish too, and with them I managed to build everything.

okay, i've got it now and played a couple turns, will play through at least 1590 as you requested hopefully tomorrow & get you the screenshot

Sorry if I sound like a pain but it is to be sure everything works and that you actually like the scenario.
The last update will be "full".

I had almost the same problem as portuga w/ the maghrib, i could build arab spears & trebs, that's all, no arab cannons or arab horses or anything else (as far as units go) i opened the scenario vers. 0.97 in the editor, trebs are enabled in this scenario for both the maghrib & the scots and the arab cannons are not buildable by anyone, neither are pirates (is that intentional?) piracy economy is marked as a starting tech, but in the scenario properties it is not marked as such & that takes priority so the maghrib does not start w/ the tech which is a prerequsite for pirate ships, so they cannot build those either, not sure if they are supposed to have it or not to start. so those problems are in the scenario itself, not in the install. however, i could see no reason why i was unable to build arab horses, tried install again to no avail. i checked everything i could think of so I am at a loss. i do not think i have an install problem, but i should be able to build horses, i dont have anymore time to work on getting it to work properly so i think i'll just sit this out unless someone else figures out what the problem is.
