Rest in Peace.

My crappy Quest of the Sceptre:

Suka was rather annoying.

My self-confidence has once again built up to the point where I could stand having another NES fail on me. But I have to see some interest first. This would be out of the ordinary, but closer to original NESes: You tell your story, and I don't mod you. Much. Maps as you like. Players as you like, just don't be too unbalanced. (ie. don't fly 500 feet up with a jetpack and fire missiles at the orcs. That's funny for a whole three seconds.)

I have a world waiting to be shaped. But it needs shapers, and two or even three will not suffice.

Who will be strong enough to write their own destinies?
Who will have their names engraved forever in the roll of honor?
Who will go forth and smite evil? (or, if you like, smite the other players.)

sure, but if in a fantasy setting, and not a sci-fi one :)

Hmmm Nice idea, I wouldn't mind playing in one likle Roddy's again.

Whoah! Xen, you posted before I even linked it to my sig!
By default, :) RP is fantasy, and I said no jetpacks or missiles, which kinda rules out sci-fi.

North King, hello.

Erez, just not that little kid with special powers.

what can i say; i've got a story to tell, and a nice little character to do it with ;)

Very well; let me mention a few of the "incidentals" I will be having as mod:

Circon
An old mage-warrior, but that description is not accurate. He will be my main character. He has no ethics, no morals, and deals in all forms of magic. Circon is almost sulless, and bordering on undead: his sword is bone white, drains his spirit every waking moment, and has long since banished sleep. He is only human - and still human. He is outcast - though that has no practical meaning, he left society behind him a very very very long time ago, and nobody alive remembers him being cast out. He fights with every trick in the book, from poisoned caltrops to an all-destroying death spell. His appearance is that of a man with pale, drawn skin, a two-handed sword that radiates fear, a suit of armor that appears to weigh little, and a dark red and black cape with several internal pockets.

Arla
A woman of many interests, not much is known about her. She is rumored to hold a seat in the Council of Meranos, but even this is uncertain. What is known is that she hires adventurers to do unlikely tasks for her. These invariably lead to complications, especially when two adventurers are set on opposing directions. No one knows quite why she does what she does, but one man proposed she is actually a Chaos creature in human form. She appears as a mysterious woman in a long pink dress.

Isor
Druid with a two-handed axe, he moves from grove to grove, seldom venturing out of the places he swore to protect. An ill-made oath binds him to these for a period of time; how long, he has not chosen to disclose. He summons nature's allies to fight with him in most situations, and his axe is said to be a deadly bane of all unlife and evil. This has given him a somewhat good reputation among priests and exorcists, even though he abhors religion. His hair is threaded with green vines, and a well-used and dirty white cape with several stains covers most of his body.

All of these have "quirks" you may discover.

Makira
He is an ancient human-like creature. He was created by Cjaose, the chaos god of the northern frozen lands since the beginning of time. He is pure evil and has all sorts of power both magic and physical. He is the leader of the Cjaos (Chaos) religion of the north. His aim is to make all lands ready for the coming of Cjaose to the world by making a race of top human-like-creatures that are perfect in all methods while all other creations are their slaves. He is also the leader of Cjaosia, the northern fort-castle from wich he spreads his Cjaos religion.

That is one of the charaterse I want to hold :) possibile?

Numerius
Ahh, th elife of young a lusty, well, hell, that about sums up numerius; a warrior presit by trade, he was rather forced into the situation after being kicked out of the preisthoof of the sun-god when he was a bif of a mere neophyte, and has continually built upon the trade fo being more warrior the preist, but has laways cherished his knowledge in most areans, and his skills at the preistlly arts. A mercenrary by profession, he generally makes sure to stay on the better, mor enoble side of things, as even if he isnt an ordained praiset, and not deemed at all "pious", he still go the blessing sof the gods upon him, and hardkey wants to refute that.

Armed with a a halberd, and acutlass, and sctum sheild, and armoured with cehs tplate of classical desing, arm guards, and, under the robes, a pair of greeves, all reflects the rather varied, and short career of this unique character upon the world stage.

this is my preffred character; soon enough I'll have alittle art work to show him off untot he world ;)

Gaius Armenius

A scholar, Gaius dabbled in the arts of alchemy for a while, under the employ of the church of Sol Invictus (Sun god priesthood). After several years of frustrating work for the Priests of the Son God, Gaius soon turned to other scientific areas such as astronomy, engineering, and such. After his distaste of Alchemy became apparent, the Priesthood threw him out of there pockets, and he was left poor and unable to continue his scientific pleasures for lack of money.

This forced Gaius into destitustion and he then went around the countryside, seeking patronage from the local warlords or authorities, and showing them his notebooks of writing and his myriad inventions. One invention that Gaius claimed his was an odd toy. A wheel which he was able to get to spin by boiling water to an intense heat and forcing the steam out of a tube, which hit the wheel in a closed case and allowed it to spin. This amused several rich merchants and bankers in the rich kingdoms, and especially Doge Vitalia IX, leader of the Venetii trading council. He soon ordered several of these, and now throughout his palace there are several of these spinning wheels. Gaius laughs at this, and works under his patronage, refitting his spinners as he calls them (he believes they can be used to do great things), and experimenting with a new exploding powder, which Gaius bought from traveling caravanserai from the east....

Gaius wears simple attire, White scholar's robes and he carries with him many instruments for preforming thaumaturgy and rudimentry arithmatic calculations.

Gaius also believes that the magic and supernatural powers of some are merely accidental manipulations of the laws of the universe, and that if studied properly, mastery of such techniques will be easily done. Gaius is not of the religious type, and this was one of the reasons that he was thrown out of the priesthood, along with the fact that he claimed turning lead into gold was not possible.

image001.jpg

Gaius' Spinner, steam travels up the tubes from the heated cauldron, and causes the wheel to spin, creating self movement. This is not at all effecient, although Doge Vitalia does use the automated device to open gates in his residence. Gaius continues work on this, and he thinks that if he can get this to work on a massive scale, he can erase peoples false superstitions and erase the Priesthood's strangle on the scientific world. Doge Vitalia is one of the leading contributors of the Priesthood, and thus Gaius can get away with his inventions under his patronage. Vitalia does not see these things as threats to the church, rather he sees these things as tools which could help instead of harm.

BOOKS IN THE WORKS BY GAIUS

Automata: The Art of Thaumaturgy (self moving miracles)
Mechanica: Lifting Heavy Objects without the need for heavy labour

Pics later, perhaps even some drawings and paintings by me, I finally have some free time to do my own stuff since school yearbook cover is done :).

come now, you can having somthign ore unique then another character of roman influence whom was kicked ou tof the sun cult; this sort of thing is perfec tfor making unique[/u] characters; not copying othe rpeoples (in this case, you see, to have been supremmly influence by mine- my resposne is, get your own character; I like mine, and I created such a character as to be unique)

Well, I just used the church as an example, no offense or mimicking intended, my character pretty much is unique in all forms except that, I just want to make it so that stories can co - exist properly. Perhaps the church of Sol Invictus is like the Papacy of this world? I wasn't trying to steal your character, just use things already used in order to build upon mine.

Shouldn't all these characters be influenced by eachother and coincide with eachothers stories. The prime influence of my story was Heron of Alexandria, I was just using the Church of the sun god as a side character in my story.

Is your character the ONLY person in this world with a Roman or latin influenced name? I was only thinking of the bigger picture of the NES. Perhaps there is a large Roman or Italian type kingdom, or a vast church, which extends its authority over much of the world and perhaps there is a man who would revolutionise the scientific world, or perhaps even a warrior preist who would tear down the establishment :)

wqhy dose thie rhave to be a papacy, or a central presithood at all? a characters history could be coming from a singuler city with suc a repressive natue, yet the world at large being free minded.

in any event, perhaps some people dislike having the traits and hsitories of thier charatcers taken, or built upon; as i said before, these thigns are, IMO, an exercise in free thinking, and coming up with a unique backstory; not takign a single backstory, and appylign it to differen tpeople.

Aldaer

Fallen Demon

The cult of Cjaos, he could still remember it all so well. He had advised the legion master himself, Makira, he had personally helped him arm the armies and had plotted the courses. To be honest he had no magic, but few knew that for he had bluffed his way to the very top. Then the days of the purging had come and Makiram, in his eternal suspicions, had cast Aldaer out of the cult for plotting, though Aldaer had always been faithful.

He was confused for a long time, he still is in many ways, but he had finally decided to wage an unholy war against the armies that had thrown him away. He had tried to train in the physical arts to become strong enough to defeat them all, but strength was not his talent. He had a certain charisma, and an undoubtable luck. He gives himself to no vices, and is singlemindedly focused on his purpose of destroying the Armies of Cjaos, of testing himself against a God, of defeating all of those who have Magic and Might. He has no ambitions for himself but revenge, and he refuses to die unavenged.

OOC: Hey Xen, I'm not copying you, in fact I only read about your character because of your whining to Panda. If you think I am copying you then ok. grow up.

The Travelling Journal of Gaius Armenius:

Day 52 of the Journey North
Dear Book keeper Aüm

Today we have reached the hinterlands of the north. All the eye can see is huge feilds of grass. The Northmen seem nice enough, and eagerly trade with us. We see some bearing swords, but the Doge tells us that we have nothing to worry about, Swords are forms of currency to the Northmen, they freely barter them for goods. Included in this entry I have several sketches, these should be stored for future reference then brought to the library of Venetii. I personally think they would do good for future references on northern culture. I will have several printed thesis' sent back to Venetii aswell, I plan on creating an almanac detailing the North. Would you aid me in such a pursuit?

PS.

Here is the sketch of a Northman, done with Ink on Vellum paper, it should match nicely with the books in your keeping.

Best wishes.
Gaius Armenius

OOC: Hope you like the ink sketch :)

OOC: Eck, I'm utterly confused as usual. Are we saying our characters? Deciding what the world is like? Starting?

hey buddy, get a life; any qualm of mein with another person is between me, and them;ot for such *******s, as you are perfectlyl ocmign off as at themoment, to start trouble were thier was none before by butting in to the matter; as i assure you, cansar as much **** as i might wish on my w accord, and need no ones help for that.

I didnt say **** about you, or or story, the only simularity is a simuleraity in how the character goes about buisnes and could, doubtfully, care less about that is to say,the back story and history fo the character of he character that I'm about, so thank you very much, for creating nice little stae of animosity betwee us over absolutelly nothing.
