Well, it appears we do have something to trade after all.

Trades are as follows:
Joan: Mil Tra->132gpt, 216g.
Cathy: Mil Tra -> Whatever she would offer T5
Mao: Mil Tra -> Whatever he would offer T5.
It serves no value to trade Mil Tra to the other 2 civs right now, so it would be best to wait. The choices are as follows (in the poll, refer to the numbers)

1 YES (On All Issues)
2 NO (On All Issue)
3 YES (All issues but Cathy/MT)
4 NO (All issues but Cathy/MT)
5 YES (All issues but Mao/MT)
6 NO (All issues but Mao/MT)
7 YES (Alll issues but Joan/MT)
8 NO (All issues but Joan/MT)
9 ABSTAIN (I voted for Nader)

This covers every base. Mao/MT and Cathy/MT would be for the DP to check.
48 hours, public.

Nader.. Badnarik...
Please dont tell me you abstained on the basis that it was the green party candidate
(PS- I'm pissed at Iowa)

I love Iowa! ;) :D
But seriously lets hold military tradition to ourselves for abit

Does it make sense to sell military tradition to the French on turn one then try peddling it to others four turns later? What about selling to Joan on T5 as well?

Couldn't agree more. If we are going to sell Military Tradition, then we either sell it at the same time or not at all.

EDIT. This poll is too confusing.

EDIT2. If we were to go with what SaaM is wanting, then we loose the monopoly we have over MT, and who knows that in a few turns, the AI nations could meet each other and ruining this plan.

I voted 1, but I would like to wait until turn 4 when the current deals expire.

Classical Hero,
Russia found our continent a few TCs ago, so everyone knows everryone now. All the more reason to wait until turn 4.

That is why I think this poll is flawed. It does seem strange that we are going to do one trade at the start and then try and do the other trades after a while. We will have lost the opportunity to make the most money we can from MT. Since everyone knows everyone, then it is a bad thing to to the trade as it is. That is why I voted no on this for all. If we did all the trades at the same time, then Maybe we could have had more vote in favour.

Yeah. What I would have rather done would've been to poll WHEN we would trade MT (i.e. Now, as oposed to Turn 4, as oposed to when we get Steam (to trade in a group for Nationalism), as opposed to other/never/Abstain)

BTW, I too voted on Nay All.

Besides, having numeric options is confusing. Should be like: "Yes, Joan & Cathy; No Mao." rather than "#5". The description would still provide further clatification. I mean, I could take options 4, 6, & 8 to mean that the DP has discression on trades with the exception. (I'm sure that SaaM will clarify in his instructions. At least, he had beter...)

sd3, me saying it takes place on a turn other than start ALWAYS gives the dp discression. Thats the way we did it last term. i wrote that CT should check for trades t5, she did and did the ones she felt were best. you have the power to do the trades for what you feel is fit when t5 occurs

and the reason im doing joan t1 is because were not sure if shes researching it, and we'd get less $$$ if we wait on it

I abstained because I think it should be up to the DP's discretion to see if these trades are worth it ingame, incase something changes.

And why are you pissed at Iowa? I live in Iowa. I'm not surprised Bush got it, Iowa is 90% white and conservative.

Well, I can't do it in Turn 5, or turn 4 for that matter, if Joanie does it in Turn 2.

Abstain. There's no option to select only the Joan trade.

I think thats what 8 was, so I voted for it.

And Ralph Nader is my hero. :D

Posting to include a timestamp about 40 minutes before the scheduled turn chat:

9 want to trade MT to everyone (option 1),
7 don't want to trade MT to anyone (option 2),
1 wants to trade to France and China (option 3),
1 wants to trade only to France (option 8),
4 abstain (option 9). 1 of the abstains stated a preference to trade only to France.

My summary (certainly not Trade Ministry's official position): 19 non-abstain votes.
12/19 - 63% want to trade to France
10/19 - 53% want to trade to France and China
9/19 - 47% want to trade to France, China, and Russia
7/19 - 37% don't want to trade MT.

I agree the poll could have been better. I would point out that there was not time for proper discussion and polling before the game play session.

I'm a bit wary of SaaM's comment about any trade after start being at the DP's discretion. I do not think such a thing should be automatic but should be included in game play instructions. I also think that should be included up front in any trade polls.

Anyway, anyone care to post what trades were actually made?

I shall post.

On Turn 0, the polled trade to Joan was accomplished as listed.

On Turn 2, I discovered that China had Printing Press. After a half-hour of research and flip-flops, I decided to hold out for a better deal than straight up for MT.

On Turn 4, our Lux agreements with China expired.

No trades had been accomplished other than the French one.

And China and Russia still lack Military Tradition. China and France both have Printing Press.
