C3C PBEM : "Nelson" - Napoleonic scenario-based PBEM (level : newbees)

Hi, this is the thread for the new Napoleonic PBEM aimed at newbees !


"Nelson" was a a famous English admiral (Abukir for instance).

It is for Conquests, using the MP version of the Napoleonic scenario and the patch 1.22.
So you need to have both Conquests and the patch 1.22 installed on your computer.

Civs will be attributed randomly (but you can state your preferences).

Austria
England and allies (Italy, Portugal and Netherlands)
France and allies (Denmark)
Ottomans
Prussia AI
Russia
Spain AI
Sweden AI


Players : 5 (Sweden, Prussia and Spain are played by AI).

4. Yamamoto (Austria) (replaces brachra)
5. WarningU2 (Ottomans)
6. AI- Spain
7. AI - Prussia

Organization : the game will be called "Nelson" to be recognizable and when you get the game, send a mail to inform the sender you got it.

SPECIAL RULES AND OPTIONS

Razing is not allowed since there are no settlers.

Treachery and change of alliances were common during that period (think of Saxony that turned from ally to opponent to Napoleon within the very battle of Leipzig) so an active diplo and alliance breaking should not be considered evil in this PBEM (as a victim you can still be unhappy and complain though) !

I'm in. I prefer not France, I think. I don't really know this conquest but I hear it's well balanced.

EDIT: I would prefer Russia.

I'd like to be England.

Unless I'm mistaken Denmark would be played by the French - if James I gets the English & I get the French, that would leave the Austrians or Ottomans to choose from as punkbass2000 is the Russians, looking forward to the game , good luck to us all

@ brachra : you should have read the post carefully.

It is for conquests, not PTW and it is the Napoleonic conquest so no Americans.
It is the MP version (8 civs only) so no Danish as they are played by French and have already been selected.

Patch 1.22 absolutely necessary for everyone.

If there is a spot still available please include me.

So the locked alliance system is disabled? or is it still structured basically as it is in single player scenario? I figure the allocation of the usual allied states as a direct part of your empire might alter this somewhat if it still exists...

Sent a mail to brachra and WarningU2 as they still haven't told me about their civ preferences.

When they have confirmed, I will send the organization e-mail and the modified game to sparhawk as he will start the game as France (IIRC).

Since they can only be 8 civs in MP (humans and even AI), the locked alliances are replaced by direct ownership.

So England has Portugal, Italy and Netherlands while France owns Denmark.
The rest of the map is globally unchanged.

Ottomons good for me ... ready to start when you are.

C'mon brachra, we are all keen to kick off....

At first I didn't understand the no razing / abandoning rule however now that I see the reason (no settlers) makes sense.

Has it started ?

Punkbass : did you encounter any pb ?

Not quite sure what you're asking, unless 'pb' means 'problem', perhaps? But yes, I'm trying to conduct trades with a couple players and am not getting responses. Particularly I want to trade lux/lux with Brachra (Ottomans) and feel I can't really play my turn without knowing whether I'm going to have various luxuries. Also, trade takes long enough as it is in MP and I don't want excessive turns added to when a deal should become active either. Sorry for the delay.

EDIT: I've tried both e-mail and PM, BTW. ASsuming they're only not responding because they haven't received their messages suggests that even if I begun the game it still wouldn't have moved along anyway.
