I need regent training.

I'm quite familiar with format of doing things here.(Longtime lurker )
The trainer has free hands of chosing civ / map settings.

So, anyone want to help me?

what kind of game did you have in mind?
i guess the level would be regent? why not monarch - tougher, but you learn more.
do you want to go for culture win? domination? space?
what variety to the game, if any? or just a normal game?
but i guess tomoyo will choose, him being the senior officer here

IMHO we should take some unplayed civ in SG's... and some weird world settings like 20% continents standard.

Let's see... what civ should we take? My personal comment included, but you don't need to care about those if you don't want to.

Aztecs - underplayed, but I'm playing them now.
Russia - This could be cool. nice traits.
Rome - quite cool... I don't think I've ever played a game as them till the end.
Babylon - overplayed
Persia - ditto that
Americans - worthless UU but reasonable traits...
China - good traits with great UU, but I just played them.
Egypt - underplayed with cool traits.
England - horrible traits IMHO. And UU useless.
France - dunno... but I'm playing a game as them now
Germany - traits are ok... but UU is way late
Greece - not bad. Good UU and traits.
India - no idea. Haven't played as them much
Iroquois - way too much overplayed
Japan - hm...
Zulu - I'm playing a game as them now.. but underplayed otherwise.

Out of these my choices would be one of the following:

India
Greece
Russia
Egypt
Rome
Germany

But it's your choice.

Will we start with us four or will we wait for some more players?

Russia is out, I just played with them.
I've never tried Germany, so we could take them.
I would like to try domination.

We could go for monarch game, thou I've newer won on regent.

In order of preferance:

Egypt
Rome
Russia
Greece
France
Random

We could do it on Monarch - the difference is not that big.

If Ankka can't, I will. (I'm bored too) If not, I'll do the questions.

EDIT: So which civ are we playing? I'm leaning toward Egypt, but India is good too.

civ: germany
rules: default, except culture-linked starts and respawning off
difficulty: monarch

Don't worry about the difficulty, it's really like playing a level or two easier in SG's because you'll get advice and discussions with other players.

I'll do some questions:

1) Our civ is Germany. What are our traits and what do they do?

2) How can we take advantage of them?

3) What is our UU and what good is it?

We are militaristic and scientific.
Militaristic helps to build cheaper militari buildings, and helps to produce more great leaders.

Scientific helps to build cheaper scientific upgrades like libs, unis and labs.
Our UU is Panzer, which is tank with 3 movement. Its decent, but not the best.

1) How does Militaristic help to produce leaders?

2) What other benefit does Scientific have?

3) What is the Panzer best used for?

4) How can we start our Golden Age?

So. Tomoyo, were you gonna start starts or not? Feel free to, I'm lazy.

Fine.

1: We Can build cheaper Barracks -> Veteran units -> easier to get Leaders (I think chance of producing GL in combat is higher, cant remember the value now)
2: We get free tech in beginning of every era.
3: I think its best used for taking cities deep in enemy border.
4: We can start our golden age by building militaristic/scientific wonder(?) or winning combat against rival civilization with our UU.

1: IIRC for mil civs the chance to get a leader in a battle is 1/12 whereas it for other civs is 1/16. This is actually a significant difference even though the numbers look both quite the same.

4: I suppose you meant that we'll have to build either a single wonder to cover both traits or two wonders, one for each.


Oh, and BTW, I live in Riihimäki.

You confused the MIL trait with the Heroic Epic. For MIL civs, they get more leaders because the chances of promotion is doubled, resulting in more elites. The Heroic Epic increases the chances from 1 in 16 to 1 in 12.

A nice start you got... next time you post screenies could you resize them to 800x??? at max, though, please, so in a 1024xblahblah resolution you don't have to scroll to see the whole pic. Thanks. Or crop them to show only the important part.
