I've never play the Sumeria. So what is their UU and what does it replace?

Cool a 1/2/1 warrior costing 10 shields if I find some fast I'll have an early war.

Well at demigod maybe not.

I like the fact that we'll have 1/2 the tundra and 1/2 the desert if that is still the map generating property. More land too, yea! Which means more barbs. :crazyeye: Depends on level for whether that is a good thing, but with the AA UU it shouldn't be bad.

Considering the lack of BG's, Settler east looks like a good spot to build a first city without exploring. Either move worker 1N for some exploration to see if I want to change first city spot or 1 SE to chop right away.

With the Enkidu Warrior, I will want to avoid early conflict, but will welcome a Golden Era after I get to Republic. Will be trying a different victory type this time. Did 20K and 100K in the last two COTMs, so will try something very different this time.

EDIT: Demigod, eh? Makes barbs a lot tougher since I won't have much advantage over them. Also means a huge tech disadvantage. Phony wars and tech trading/stealing will be the answers of the day. Hopefully can destroy neaby rivals in the early MA before they bound ahead of me. No obvious settler factory is bothersome. Hopefully I'll find one for my second city if one doesn't become apparent with my first worker move.

IIRC we cannot build either warriors or spearman right?

also I think it upgrades to a pike... is this right?

Yes, there is a good Civ3C3Cdata.pdf in the forums to use as a quick reference. The only thing I can't find so far is the AI advantages for Demi-God and Sid, but I haven't worried about that as I assume they are god-like. ;)

Enkidu warrior is interesting. If there's anyone around who doesn't start with warrior-code, it might be worthwhile to send a few out for a little early pillage/worker-capture fun. They won't be as good as hoplites or Impi for that, but they're cheaper than either and available from the get-go -- might be worth looking for the opportunity. Based on just the tiles we can see, it doesn't look like a settler-factory is in the works; this could be one way to take a little steam out of the opponents instead of the more typical (for me) expand-like-crazy units-what-units? approach.

If you look in the FAQ :
http://www.civfanatics.com/civ3faq.shtml#gameplay
You find a link to this thread:
http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=37490

In the last post there are also the Demi and Sid values.
But you can also just look it up in the rules section of the editor :)

For demigod the AI gets 6 defensive and 3 offensive units to start and has 12 free unit support +3 per city.

Edit:
Forgot to mention the extra settler and two workers, but well what do you expect ;)

Thanks!!

Piece of cake. ;) They'll just have to destroy each other. Just need to destroy all the locals before they meet anyone else. :)

Oooh, I was thinking Demigod was Deity production bonuses with Emperor bonus units, but it's the reverse. Eeep!

So maybe pick on a civ that's a bit further away, .

Should be interesting, at any rate.

Seems like it could be an interesting start.
1. I dont see it as an option to settle in place. Either move north or south until something more interesting is found. But putting bonus food close but not in site would increase the luck factor so maybe ainwood put them pretty far off.
2. UU seems to suck. If you use it actively early on you will trigger despot GA. If you build it to mass-upgrade to swords you will be disappointed since from what I read in this thread it upgrades to pike. Please correct if wrong :)
3. Demigood without settler factory nor high production starting site ...

I wish us luck (and a few bonus food next by).

We need expert help here...
Fog gazers where are you guys?????
Any wheat or cows under the cover of uknown?

Too bad for the UU.

Luckilly i never fight with either warriors or spearmen, so in that respect avoiding a despot GA should not be a problem.

Is it true you cannot build both spears and warriors? I hope these guys do upgrade to swords then right, not pikes?

Well anyway, the chinese didn't look to me as a good tribe for a space race. Therefore i waited for this pregame discussion to see if this would be better. I guess it is. Too bad the difficulty isn't higher though. (for a better tech pace)
When are we gonna have a Sid cotm ? :D

Not that this helps a whit, but I believe there is another dye SE, SE. At least with my monitor, I can't spot any wheat or cows hiding in the fog.

And yes, Enkidu upgrades to pike, not sword, which makes nearby horses even more important than usual.
