Similar to the other discussion, what changes would drive you away from the next demogame? Same rules, don't try to change people's minds -- get clarifications, but let's not argue points here.

Turning this into a multiplayer game wouldn't completely drive me away, but my participation would diminish...we already have a MP DG, so why add more? Nothing would drive me away, but somethings would deter my participation.

Using Vanilla Civ again.

 Yes that would piss me off.

What would drive me away is playing a variant game such as a OCC or a 5CC game. As with Dave, eliminating the chat completely would be an issue that would drive me away.

For the rules and consitution, If the deputy system that has been in placed since DG5 (and other DGs other than DG4) are removed.

Agreed. If I were a regular player, eliminating the chat would drive me away. It's the interacting with other players during the game (even if it's roleplay) is what made the game fun.

CT and DS:
Would you be opposed to Donovan Zoi's idea? Where the turns are actually played offline, but there is a 'press conference' each week. I think that is a really good compromise, as there is still socializing and yet the DP wont have pressures...

@Black_Hole - Erm you also forgot about me, I am to not fond of the idea of eliminating the turnchat :p.

I don't think that will work as well. Those "chats" will only last a few minutes, and might as well be a summary in the forums. To me, it's more fun to watch the chat taking place than it is to read 5+ hours of log. The good thing about chats is that you can role-play during the chats, and it keeps peoples interest up. The one thing that distinguished this demogame from the now dysfunct Civ2 DG was the turnchats. They were put in for a reason.

Despite my sentimental attachments, I could live if the chat was left to die. A good summary with an attentive designated player, as opposed to a long-winded chat log and a DP with attention divided between chat and Civ, is better any day.

okay, so would that drive you away?

Eliminating the turnchat would likely drive me away, also playing OCC or 5CC variant, would make me quickly lose interest. If we play with vanilla again, I'm likely to get bored and leave also.

@Black_Hole - What Strider said and ill quote him:

Thoes are the things that will drive me away from the demogame (other than RL since not everyone can control that)

for me I can stand not using Vanilla, in fact I would prefer it but what would drive me away is
A. diminishing the forums, this is how I do most of my participation
B not having information and summaries easily available, my computer is slow, it is hard for me to look at the save, and I would like the info if Vanilla was dumped( and it should be)
.

Uh, let's see...

The 5cc sounds pretty limited to me. I'd probably stick around to see how boring it got.

If we made it a policy to place the Forbidden Palace 6.5 tiles away from the Capital.

Suppressing Culture.

Changing Governor's build queues at will.

Uh, let's see...

Playing on Monarch level again.

Losing the chats.

That's all I can think of. :)

although i like turnchats, i dont mind the idea. if i ever got to be president (TERM 3 Demogame 6!!!) then i would either need to do this or have a real slow turnchat, and i could never have a spear 6 hours to play civ online. People at my house would want the phone and such. plus my internet is slow, so allowing off line play would allow more people to do the job.
