I almost forget to randomize the resources. I barely started, so it isn't big deal to start again. The game isn't as good if you have some idea where they resources are.
4000 BC
The settler moves as I refuse to waste a bonus grassland tile.
3950 BC
Moscow is formed. I start research on the cheapest tech of burial hoping it will drop under 50 turns shortly. In addition, I really don't want that from a hut.
3800 BC
I make first contact with Germany, but no trades happen.
3700 BC
I make first contact with France and Greece. The European contacts are complete.
3350 BC
I make the first contact in the Middle East with Babylon. Once again no trades happen. However, every civ met lowers our research cost and opens up possible 2 for 1 deals.
3250 BC
We get to pop a hut and get a lousy conscript warrior.
3000 BC
We meet Egypt and save 22 turns on Burial and get $10 for Pottery. Burial is useless to France as I can't get any of there techs.
I pop a hut in Scandinavia and get Warrior Code.

I ship Egypt Warrior Code and get Masonry.
I meet Persia, and it is the typical no deals possible.
2950 BC
We pop another hut and get another annoying skilled warrior that chokes our economy with unit costs.
2850 BC
I didn't expect to meet India this soon. No trades can happen.
I find another hut to pop and simply get maps. Expansionist hasn't been too useful so far.
2800 BC
I can't believe how easy it has been for contacts this game. I meet the Songhai that was expecting to travel to West Africa to meet. That scout will quickly turn south to find the Zulu. They tend to be a tech laggard due to lack of early contact.
2710 BC
Our warrior pops a hut and we get Alphabet.

We pop a second hut and get another frelling conscript warrior.
2630 BC
We meet the Mongols and nothing happens.
I pop another hut and get maps again.
2590 BC
We meet China that has spare cash, but no techs. I really don't want cash that will simply be demanded away.
2510 BC
China was nice enough to learn The Wheel. I ship them Alphabet and get The Wheel and $1.
2310 BC
This is just plain sick. We went from above several civs in tech to down to almost everyone in Iron Working. I think Persia traded IW around like crazy.
I make contact with The Zulu. I am disappointed to find they are already above us in tech. I was hoping for a backwards-trading partner.
2270 BC
St. Petersburg is formed close to where the real city was. It isn't a great spot, but is has fresh water and inland fish for a heavy food tile.
It trashes our economy again, but I ship Babylon Alphabet, $20 and $6/turn to get Iron Working. We need to locate potential iron, and they were the only civ whom needed Alphabet.
2150 BC
Novgorod is formed. This will actually be a pretty good city once all the forests are cleared. It has fresh water and irrigated the deer may let even us some of the tundra forest when we run out of grassland. I start the city on a barracks as this will be our main military city.
I didn't bother selling China Iron Working as cash will probably just get demanded away. I really don't want cash until we can build embassies. Some type of early WAR looks pretty much forced.
Summary:
ALL contacts have been made in the old world. We need a coastal city to build a ship to send to the new world.
Resources look bad with no visible iron or horses. There is a junk location in Scandinavia to get our first luxury of furs. Depending on the scouting resources we may be forced into a deity archer rush.
We have to take any decent city spot. The good spots south to us have been claimed. I draw the line at all tundra cities unless they have luxuries / resources. We can't afford them at this time.

Remember 10 turns per round - STRICT 24 hours got it, total 48 to complete.
It will drop to 5 to 10 turns in the industrial age.
The new WM players will need to run the following batch file. It should be run from C:\Program Files\Infogrames Interactive\Civilization III\Art\units.
http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads8/SETUP-UNITS4.zip
This creates the UU for several civs by simply coping the existing animations.
