Introduction Welcome to Gnome NES
the latest in the XNES series, and a truelly unique concept, as far as setting goes, for an NES; the concept of this NES is that rather then a human nation, in the wide world, or in a specific scenario, you are lawn Gnomes, competing for domaince of the yard; and perhaps oneday.. the neigborhood...
Rules
Technology
well rules are kinda sketchy in some regards; technology is here, and here to stay, but if you want your lawn Gnomes to be able to do somthing new, say, like doesticte ants to be little hordlings in your armies, or help with work, you are, either through stories, or orders, going to have to convince me that you could actually do it, with what materials you have; if you cant covince me, then you wont be able do it. somtimes, this result in hilarious (for other players at least) mishaps, and rampant carnage on behalf of your Gnomes.
Military
Th emilitary is simple; we start our with Gnomish speamen, little Gnomes essentially armed with sharpend swigs, and perhaps th eoccasional rish Gnome armed with a sharpend discarded or dropped toothpick; these troops will be easy to improve, scrap peice of metal coudl be added ot make axes, or swords or other things, and for the most part, you wil have to improvise to make your weapons, remember dont take the littl ethings for granted; even s impel slingshot coudl becoem the most powerful of artiller peices for little soldires who are only 10 or so millimeters high...
Resources on the map, you will see severla "icons", yellow sqaures, representing beehives, and dark red/brown "antihills"- these are "staionary" resources; that is, they arnt going to move unless a random event changes things, or the Gnomes to somthign to make them all leave
but those are hardley the end of the resources; no, resources are connected to terrian, and if fiarlly simple to remember- aftera ll, anythign you coudl find in your lawn could becoem a resource in this NES
ligh Green grass- sort of a neutral territory, while animals ar eplentiful, you have only a small chance of findign any particuler verity fo animal, and the large rit is, the less common they will be
Raised grassy knolls (darker green)- you'll find more complet forms of lfe in these area, as vegitation tends to be here more; youre likelly to find lizards, grasshoppers, and ther assorted verities of more complex bug life; you also have the largest chance so ffinding turltes in these areas, particuler where bushes lay
Compost heap- if it ha smore the 4 legs, your likelly to be able to find it here; wanring though, most more complex animals, like bes, grasshoppers, turtles, lizards and beyond dont really fare well here; but at least youll have huge swarms of insects to compensate
water well, fish, water bugs, and after they are introduced, water turtles
flowers high diversity of life of all kinds, including turtles and rodents and what not
*remember, just because I dont mention it, dosent mean it cant be found
population
population is a major concept in this NES- your goign to need to divde you gnomes up, soem for labor, soem for war, soem for other persuits entirelly, and you not going to want to waste them, at least not in the beginning, well unless you can come up with soem sort of brilliant plan at least. Gnomish populatiosn will raise, and declien according to my whims, which are based on how well your nation is doing, whaty your nation is doing, if thier is need, and everything else that might be considered for it.
economy
economy is based on what resorces you control, how much of them you control, how many cities you have, thier size, how much infastructure (roads) and all sorts of other stuff
wonderswonder can be built in this NES: just make them fit in with the setting, and nothign to outlandish as a result of the wonder; I reserve the right to change names of wonder, and reduce effects of wonders if I deem them too much as far as the result goes
Garden Gnomes you notice grey circles on the map; these are th egreat lawn gnomes, statues of the greater gods of Gnomdom placed by the lesser gods in holy spot (read gaudy Gnome lawn statuary places in almost random location by soccar moms with somthing less then refined high class tastes in life) controllign these can be important religious and cultureal icons for the Gnomes, and are a good source of mischiefe, and hostility, if you ever ifnd your self looking for a fight. soem might even provide bonuses
random events
expect the unexpected; even mundane human activites can have huge consequenses, good and bad, on Gnomish civlization
