***THIS IS NOT A PLAYABLE MOD***

Uses the modern era as a base for the 5th (Future) era and there are no images or attributes attached any of the units, techs, wonders, etc...

Thought someone might find it useful :egypt:

Here it is.

Hmm.. could this be useful if you're making a futuristic mod which starts in the present? Or maybe even a scenario based on humanity's future?

you could also do that, but this adds another era after the 4th, so if we can just change the retirement year, we could continue this to even further techs, era's, and set the spaceship to AC to be buildable a lot later

Ah.. that would be interesting. Somebody will probably experiment a way to add the ages like you see in CtP

Also, sn00py made this...

It has been tested, and works if used as an era splash for all existing transitions.

Good Work !!!!!

Time to see our futuristic empires! :scan: :king:

Is anyone working on a mod using this yet ???

unfortunately y can't create new eras in CIII :( :(

I hope firaxis make a patch to put into the game some new eras

If anyone does make a mod which adds eras, it would be really cool, could double the length of the game :D
I've been thinking about what the future eras should be like, and here are my thoughts:

Future era 1:
Continues roughly in the same way as the modern era, with lots of new units and pollution creating improvements.

Future era 2 (awakening):
Adds new "Green" type of government (maybe 2: socialist green democracy and capitalist green democracy) , which would, if possible, slow population growth down a lot, but would improve efficiency (and therefore more commerce and/or industry) and add new pollution reducing improvements which would eventually cut down pollution to zero. After the pollution reducing improvements are built, civs would be able to go back to other governements.
During this age, no significant unit advancements would be made, but some older improved units should become available with no more natural resource requirements.

Future era 3 (exploration): This era should be filled up with small and large wonders which give massive culture boosts (space based).

Future era 4 (stagnation): With the neighbouring stars and the solar system colonized, what are the people on Earth to do? Reignite old hatreds of course. This age should add more military units, and have very few cultural wonders/imrpovements.

How about we just tac the entirety of Alpha Centauri and Alien Crossfire
onto the end of Civ3?

...actualy that would be cool...if we could make new eras we I would make a mod with a slightly altered version of the SMAC tech tree.

I want to win Civ3 via 'Transencance' lolz

les'see what cool stuff can you do when you get the tecs in smac thas not in Civ3?

terrain modification.
it would be fun and useful to be able (late in the game) turn mountains
into hills etc. of course Smac had 3-D terrain and one of the main things you could do was raise/lower it to affect rainfall patterns...but i would be fudgeable for Civ

Citys in the ocean.

the 'Tree Farm' and 'Hybrid Forest' improvements that if you spent a lot of time reseraching and building them made all forests citys a pratcile and enviornmentaly friendly alternative to mines and farms. (actualy better)

Orbital farms, solar collectors and missle def pods.

Alien life ( haha fun thing to do in SMAC: breed a bunch of mindworms, move them into a rivals territory, then release them into the wild. the will attack him with nothing to trace back to you. of course you need a hell of a lot of them to do serious damage)

Ooo! actual full aliances! you could see all your allies citys and move your units on the same squares, you could even repair in his citys! Civ3 need someting like that for other civs you are REALY good friends with.

(can anyone tell i love SMAC? ...i love civ3 too but i have to say that it is missing some useful features that were in SMAC several YEARS earlyer. For instance WTH are many unit comands shortcut ONLY? i didnt even know some of them were there until halfway through my first game.)

We REALY need a future era. Just from a realizm standpoint i have serios doudts that earth would actualy be able to lauch a colony ship to another star in 2050. it would make a bit more sence to be able take the game to 3000 or so. Also that would open up dif playing styles since as it is with a fairly short time one always feels pressed to do fast research and/or culture and/or conquest. I personaly want more time to just happily build/manage/trade fight petty border wars =)

...*looks at his post* uhh hope I didnt stray of topic too much. actualy most of it was on, all that stuff i mentioned from SMAC is stuff i would like to see in a future era and/or mod for Civ3

Think of all the different Mech units we could have! :)

<homer.>MMmmmmmm......mech units..........arrrgghhhhh!<./homer>

Wait, Gromit, did you actually play and see if you can get into the future era without crashes or anything?

Nope. Just made it for ppl to play around with and see what happens...

With the hacked editor.

All are brilliant ideas, and the splash screen is nice. Lets just hope that Firaxis will make it possible to play on multiple maps (like Civ II TOT) and add non-human races who may start on these extra maps. Maybe they could make these non-humans like they did with the Sci-fi game in TOT with their own tech tree and units. Then, humans will need to trade with them to get alien-specific technology, while the aliens might need to trade for some human-specific technology.

I know it might be too much work, but its just a few ideas. This template might be the start of something big. Lets hope it is.

Well there are a lot of plans that the US military has made public like

Lasers on vehicles that blow up tanks, and on planes that can destroy missiles

Railguns

Foot soldiers with armor that changes to it surroundings (camouflage)

Artillery shells that actually track their targets

Optical stealth

A lot of UAVs

Mag Pulse Warheads (just like in Tiberian Sun)

But this is just the near future so if you want far off future tech look at star wars and star trek (no technobabble though:D .)

What suprises me is that everyone here is talking about adding eras... Shouldn't we add the renaissance first? Seems everyone is always forgetting about that...

In terms of this game, the Renaissance is a part of the middle-ages. All the Renaissance involved really was study into Theology, the rapid development of universities, free artistry and music theory. If you were to add the Renaissance, it would completely stuff up the tech tree for the middle ages. The only true middle-ages technologies there are Monotheism and Feudalism. If anything, the middle ages should be renamed to the Renaissance. Not added as an extra era.

How about adding the Stone Age era? And make it so that the techs there involve roadbuilding, mining, irrigation and warriors. Make the game start in 6000BC or something like that to compensate for the lagging behind in technology.
