I don't see many Vanilla games around here, so I'm going to start one. As you can see, we are Germans and are looking to the stars.

Civilization: Germany
Victory: Space Race
Difficulty: Emperor
Map: Continents, 30% land, rest random
Barbarians: Random
Version: Vanilla Civilization III v1.29f

Don't use any exploits, however braking RoP is allowed, just not advisable.

24h to get the save, 48 to upload. First one plays 20 turns, the others 10.

Here is the Roster:
Khan Asparuh
Vizurok
Chunky Kong

Hi,
I'd like to try, though it will be my first SG. I've been lurking for long so I think i can handle this.
I'm a regular emperor player.
I have conquests, will try to install tonight the 1.29 on the CIV3 part, if it works and you want me, I'd like to join.
Any special features?

Good, you're in. I think you have to uninstall conquests first (i don't know, don't have it). And no special features. It's the first one I started and I want it to be normal.

Thanks, expect confirmation tomorrow.
How many players will the team count?
EDIT: Any starts générated? EDIT: Saw the roster, excuse me.

Ok here are some starts.

I think they're not too easy.

Not a signup, but Start #2 is something special. I would take it in a heartbeat.
If you move the settler 1 SW you get a river city with 2 cows, BG, and lots of forest for chops. Plus that looks like it might be coastal, allowing the colossus, and/or The great Lighthouse.

Also not a signup, just a couple comments.

First, #2 is easily the best.

Second, 1.29f is just a patch for vanilla. Nothing involving Conquests needs to be done at all.

Hi,
I tried to install last evening the 1.29, had some problems ("Please insert CD", while it's already in...). Will try to uninstall and restore things. If not, does this patch contain that much of a fixes to be mandatory? I mean if I saw right it's mainly 'pedia entries and stuff like this. Can we eventualy go on an unpatched version?
Anyway, I won't have Inet access during the weekend, so next update later today or monday.
BTW, as for the starts, 2 is a perfect settler farm with all those forests and cows, it'll make it too easy.
If not, 1 is fine because of the mixed terrain. So my votes go 2 then 1.
I hope that monday we'll have completed the team and I'll have arranged that transparent CD thing.

Did you have Conquests in or the original CivIII disk? It needs to be plain old CivIII.

Playing with different patched versions will cause problems, and I can't remember much in particular, but there were some big problems before 1.29f (and some would say there are still some big problems).

If you have civ3 vanilla disc, you can play with it and launch the game from vanilla shortcut, it works fine.

If you bought Civ3 Gold, I do not know how to help.

Hi, all,
still having troubles patching.
It's weird, I have managed to start the game, went in the main menu, saw the v1.29, but no link works.
However, I intend to buy soon the Gold Edition, I think it goes with the three last patchs (C3 1.29, PTW 1.?? and CQST 1.22) so it should work. The strange part is that my cqst is patched 1.22 without a problem.
Not many sign ups I must say... It leaves me the time to solve the patching problems.
To train myself for this one, I've just finished a AWR with Germany with space. Meant to go domination but...

I wouldn't mind if someone would sign up...

I always want to go domination but... I see China and go to Space.

Hi,
I dont see why everybody is against China.
Yes, they tend to gain early territorial advance, they improve faster their lands, but however, AI manages badly it's workers so it wastes partly the industrial treat and the militarist is one of the worst imo.
All of this to say that for me China are not the worst CIV, not worse than any other.
BTW, talking about militarist, just to mention. I've been impressed that in my AW game with Germany I've got my first GL by the turn 200 or so. You imagine the amount of fighting and still... Our dear RNG.

lurker's comment: I'll lurk, but I might join if you're short on players... :scan:

The're industrial and militarisrtic. IND means they build a lot, and MIL means that they build units. So they build a lot of units. That's bad. MIL doesn't seem so bad becouse Germans are the next ones I don't want for neighbours.

RNG can have good moments. I once build Pyramids before 2k BC.

Good Tomoyo is here, we have only 2 players.

Edit: Here's the save. Khan, will you start when you get the patch done?

With a MGL? I've lost the habit of using them for great wonders.
However, got it, will play it tonight, if all works well.
EDIT: that makes 30 of them, now I must find a good avatar.:)

The plan - moving on the coast between the cows, to be irigated for a 4-turn, some warriors and maybe first settler and then granary (research pottery)?
Any special instructions?

Move the worker SE, to see if that water is coast. If it is, move the settler there. If it's not, I think it's better to stay where we are, since SE is a BG, and where we are now is not. But you can move anyway.
And of course: pottery ASAP for settler factory.

What could I do with a army of warriors? I built Pyramids.
