Can't Build Wonder

I can't build TOE in my prebuild city. I can build it in every single other city though :argh:.

What's wrong?



Yup, I definately don't normally have problems, but this is quite critical to my current game. Anyone?
 
Have you queued it?
If it's to be built after Universal Sufferage in York, then every other city can build it before York starts.
 
OK, you can't not haste wonder building in any way. If you did one of the following, you will not allow to switch to wonder building -

1) If you are building a regular building and removed a forest to boost the building speed by adding 10 productions. After that, you can't switch to wonder.

2) If you build a regular building and then do a hurry production, then you can't switch to wonder.

3) If you are building a regular building and suic a unit in that town to get a boost of 2+ production, you can't switch to wonder.

One of the above 3 must have occured in that town and that's why you can build anywhere else but that town. Your best bet is build something fast and then go back to wonder.

One of those most certainly did not! Look at what I'm building: a wonder! I couldn't have been hurried, and so I should be able to change to whatever I want.

Sorry if I sound angry, but this is very frustrating.
 
According to the screenie, the Queue is empty. I was thinking that maybe some other city has started it, but if every other city can build it, then that's not the case.

That's what I thought at first to.

And, at closer examination, I can't switch to any wonders in it, not the Palace, nor the FP.
 
Sorry, the last time I read this, the picture wasn't loaded up correctly. Now I see what you mean. If it greyed out, maybe you are building TOE in another city? You are not allowed to build the same wonder in 2 different cities. Sorry, you might have checked on this, but that's the only time I noticed this type of thing occured.

edit - corrected a typo. I mean only allowed in 1 city.

1. Wrong, you can only build it in one city :rolleyes:.
2. No, I can build it in every other city means that it isn't being build anywhere by me.
 
Can you hit F-7 key to check if any other civ just finished TOE? I remember on the turn one civ just finished one wonder, you will see the rest of civ still trying to build that wonder (in F7 screen). They won't change it until the end of that turn. You might still see it listed, but greyed out because it is not really available.

Nobody else has scientific method, and therefore nobody else has started TOE. Good idea though.
 
Something must have somehow rushed it illegally... I have no idea what, though.
 
I agree. Maybe they will allow one time rush and then lock the wonder production. Try this, since you are allow to build TOE in any other town, try build it in another town and then suic a unit in there. You might get a one time boost of few production, but then locked on TOE and not allowed to switch to Palace or FP. Test that out.

No. Doesn't work like that.

I looked through old saves, and found that I've never been able to build another wonder there. There were no units in the city before I built the wonder, so I wouldn't have disbanded something there anyway.
 
Another thing I would do is to load few turns back (just for testing) to see when did you not allowed to switch to Palace or FP in that town. Maybe you done something illegal (in term of wonder buliding) in between?
 
Maybe TOE can't be pre-built? Did anyone switch to TOE before? I think I did in last game. Don't remember by now.

Sorry, I guess I am out of ideas. Maybe you want to load up the save and have people test it out.

Actually, I always pre-build using palace. Maybe there is a limit on how much you can pre-build. After certain number, you can't switch? I never go over the 300 number on pre-build. Anyone noticed this kind of behavior?

Added - To test this out, try load back to a turn where it still takes more than one turn to build if switching to palace. Maybe it is after that turn then you can't switch wonder.

Darix, please, I'm sorry to sound rude, but read my posts. I said that I loaded an earlier save and couldn't change.

Anyway, no, TOE can definately be prebuilt.
 
I read your previous post, but just did not know how far you went back in your save. Well, I am out of ideas. hopefully someone else can really help you with this problem.

Anyway, don't get too frustrated. Take a break and do something else. Maybe something will come up. :crazyeye:
