What is Age of Science?

Nope, an age of science is just where all civilization advances take shorter to reaserch, it's intiated by a Scientific Leader and lasts 20 turns (like a golden age). Firaxis messed it up though, and the feature doesn't work.

The Age of Science was supposed be an increase in science income caused by a scientific great leader. It actually is a waste of a leader, because it doesn't do anything (even though it says your turns to the next technology decrease, you still will get it in the same amount of time as without the age of science).

I guess i really do not understand this bit about the AoS that I keep hearing. Here is what I've researched and developed on the idea. I was in the modern age. and 7 turns per tech for at full science, for a loss of course. When i started my age of science, i was able to turn it down to 90 percent at 6 turns, and make a profit. So the question is, how does it not work? I don't really understand the reasoning here. Perhaps it doesnt do what it was intended to, but to say it does nothing, is not true.

Peace

Continue to research the tech at 100%. Unless you increase your science in other ways (building research labs for example), it will take 7 turns despite what it says. It might say 3 turns to go a couple turns in a row or something.

You know, now that you mention, this does sound vaguely familiar. The last game i played, i do recall thinking to myself, wasn't it on turn three last turn? I suppose i just wrote it off putting faith in the computer's honesty. It did not really matter though because i was playing on regent and had built or control over every wonder except for maybe 4, so i had to use my SGL that had been sitting around since the ancient age for something. Why not waste em.
