PEASTER (Apolyton) has written an excellent guide for early conquests.
As you probably know, I'm writing as CIV2 Strategy Guide, and this one will be part of it.

I've already published solo's Early Landing Games guide and a marvellous thread about engineers by AGRICOLA. These (and many more) will be part of my Strategy Guide (I've already published a beta version in this forum).

Now here it is (Peaster was delighted to see it):

Yes, I like what Sethos has done with my ECG, and with his Strategy Manual, which includes many good topics. I am sure he (and I) would appreciate comments, suggestions and even criticism.

Excellent guide, Peaster! :goodjob:

That must have taken a lot of work. I've glanced though it, but not yet read it carefully. I'm sure I'll learn a lot from it, as I've never been a big early conquerer; that is a weaker part of play for me.

And thanks to Sethos for the work in finding/formatting/producing usable, readable information!

I'm not sure why this thread does not have more comments, as both of you have done a fine effort that (IMO) benefits Civ 2 players across the time-space continuum. Much information is due to be lost/rediscovered/lost without work like this, and since Civ 2 will be a viable game for decades to come (yes, it will), its even more important.

Thanks, Starlifter. I enjoyed writing it, and hope it helps people enjoy EC. I know you have written many excellent guides. I was quite lost in my first modern age GOTM (#50 IIRC) until I found your article on Power Fundy!

Can this be put into a DOC where we can print it out; it looks very promising, and I ahve not learned of some of what I just quickly looked at. I gave this thread a thumbs up, the writer did a good job and a lot of work that I cannot read right now but will later I hope.

This guide looks great so far, and really helped me with ECs. Still working on perfecting ICS though. Civ2 should let you kill off unhappy citizens..with a morality penalty on your score.

HTML copy pastes really well into word.

You can "get rid" of some unhappy citizens by building settlers/engineers or, a much more drastic way, starve them by creating so many specialists in a city that it suffers a food shortage. A better way is to control the amount of food each city produces, limiting its growth.

... and use that food surplus to generate other sorts of resrouces, suchas shields, gold, science, or luxuries. :)
