Does anyone else get this weird twitchy eyelid thing that makes your eyelid twitch and no matter what you do you can't stop it twitching? Cos I got that now, and it's driving me crazy! I'm not sure why it happens, but I think it's when I do too much work, and I have to concentrate really hard. I've tried rubbing it, folding it, batting it, and generally making all sorts of weird and wonderful facial expressions, but NOTHING makes it STOP!!! Please help me!

Youve been drinking lots of coffee, or something else with lots of caffeine, right? I had the same exact problem when I used to drink gallons of coffee everyday.

Hmm I had a can of Dr Pepper for lunch, but that was like 6 hours ago, so I don't think that was it...

Do people think youre winking at them? Best way to get rid of it is not think about it. As soon as you forget about it it'll stop;)

I've had it before, but not for more than a few seconds (and it happens very rarely).

It might be youve been spending to much time on the computer too long.

Well I googled "eyelid twitch", and I found this:

The most common things that make the muscle in your eyelid twitch are fatigue, stress, and caffeine.
So your instincts were correct, Bozo, caffeine is a cause, but not my cause. I have been rather stressed lately with exam revision and stuff, and I am feeling a bit sleepy, so I guess I could take it easy for a bit, do less work, watch some TV perhaps...

But as for immediate cures, to stop the MADDENING eye twitch every 3 seconds or so.... any ideas guys?

EDIT: wow that took me 3 mins to post? anyway, Bozo, I can't stop thinking about it, because it's so damn annoying!!!

Tape it shut. You can cut it off or sever the nerve, too. I'd just leave it alone, though. ;)

Edit: I just realized the irony of that last smiley.

I used to get that, rarely, and before I started consuming caffeine. It was never frequent enough to justify scientific inquiry into how to stop it, though, so I'm afraid I have no help to offer.

I used to get that eye twitch whenever my college finals came. It was extremely annoying. It was from lack of sleep and there isn't much you can do besides get rest on a regular basis.

Oh I forgot, getting trashed at the bar did work. I often did that after finals and thats when it would go away.

Unless you have something that needs to get done stat, find a couch and take five.

I've suffered it a few times, but I didn't notice any connection with stress or cafeine. I think it's quite simular to the hiccups.
They're MUCH more annoying than hiccups!

But yeah it's definately me doing work that starts it up. I just did 30mins of physics crap and they've started twitching again. I guess I'll just have to live with it for now and hope it goes away soon :(

I don't think those have anything to do with caffeine, because I drink a gallon of Coca Cola every day and I never get those.

They will go away soon, or linger for 67 years, whichever.

My friend and I get that all of the time. Its creepy, because it seems like he's winking at me, so I laugh every time he does it.
