Do you think they should make it optional to see one 'item' per unit and have a health bar instead, like in Civ3? Or is this good enough?

Personally I don't really like these 'multiple unit units' and I think it's a small effort to make this an option. Perhaps by this poll they might add such an option.

Or am I nagging? :p

Yes! I think multi-units clutters up the screen too much.

No, If they introduce something new, they should keep to it. New things aren't liked by most of the people at first, but later on, this changes.
I myself am indifferent about multi-units, but I just think, if they make a change, they should stick to it.

Multiple units imply a different combat system. This is a bad metaphor, unless the combat system is changed.

Units with hit-points have the same chance to win a rng-round regardless of how much hit points are left.

But a four-man unit obviously would have a far better chance to win against a one-man unit than against a four-man unit.

If they have no other obvious way to see the hit points at a glance, the single units would not work...

Thanks Matrix for that link in Civrules's thread. ;)

If this option leads to the exact same combat gameplay, then YES, I want this option of single units with a health bar in. Seems like we'll have it. :goodjob:

Options aren't free. Anytime you want something to be an option, you're saying that doing the extra work is one of the best uses of the Firaxis developers' limited time and resources. This one is so trivial and cosmetic compared to the other things they could be working on.

I voted yes, but will use the multi-units! :p

Personally I like them..

and what would this mean for MP games? Some with multi units some without would cause confusion.
actually, no.
If someone is playing with single unit option, he'll see all units as single, while the guy with multi-unit option will see all units as multi-units. It's merely representation (drawing) done on the client (player's) computer and doesn't affect the server (game) in any way.
