Total NES 1

Welcome to Total NES1, a brand new series that should reflect the values of the older generation of NES players. This rules are highly based off of the generic f.t. (fresh start) nes’s back in rtor2 days. I do not intend to strive for realism, nor do I intend to follow my stJNES pattern of slow expansion/many NPCs. This NES is to play and write. I hope everyone has fun!

NOTE: I reserve the right to veto any nation that is started for any reason. I do not want nations that are hard to spell, try to keep it basic this time around guys.

RULES

Economy: This is the center of your nation. You spend economies to increase your stats, one economy per stat. You can “spend” one economy without lowering your economy level, but if you spend two, then your economy level decreases by one. You cannot increase the same stat twice in an update (no +2 army, -1 econ). If you sacrifice an economy, the extra spending has to be on something else. To increase your economy, you cannot do anything else that turn, and you must order it.
Levels:
Depression, Recession, Failing, Stable, Growing, Prosperous, Outstanding, Powerhouse, etc.

Military: You have an army, navy, and (later) an air force stat. The stat is done in words, not numbers. To increase, you spend an economy on it, and the level will go up one. Here are the levels:

Miniscule, Tiny, Little, Small, Medium, Large, Huge, Gigantic, Imperial, Humongous

Age: You will randomly increase in your age, mostly according to your education, though lots of the time it is random. Ages can be given away by other nations as well. We will begin in Stone Age. Each military branch is also in an age, and when you increase in an age, you must upgrade your military. To upgrade a branch, you must spend an economy on it, and it will decrease by one level.

Education: Is how smart your people are and influences when you get age upgrades. Your education will decrease by one each time u go into a new age. Levels are:

None, Weak, Bad, Poor, Okay, Good, Smart, Intelligent, Genius, Scientific

Confidence In Leader: This is based on how your leader rules, and if he is a strong or weak ruler, or how well your representative government functions. It is also largely based on stories, and that is the only way it can be increased. You cannot order it increased. It will be done on a 1-10 basis, 5 being that the population has no feelings towards their ruler(s), and 10 being that the love them.

Random Events: Will occur each turn, and will be random, but also based on stories.

Updates: Will be extremely small. Do not anticipate my stJNES-style updates with loads of text and information. Each TNES update will be short, an event may even just take a few sentences, and everything will not be mentioned, only the serious things.

Updates: Will occur every day, since it should take me less then half an hour to complete. This is, of course, unless the players cannot keep up with this.

Those who I encourage to join are listed below. They have been singled out because they have played in an NES like this in the past, and know how to work it. Everyone is encouraged to join, though.

ha. you are wrong on two counts there.
1. you think i've been in a game like this before. i dont remember being in one. and if i have been, then it was one that died VERY quickly.
2. you dont expect me to join (cause i like board games, and rarely pay attention to story ones).

i think i will join.

----------------------

The old Wizard had finaly made a mistake, he had claimed that even though he was old, that none would be able to defeat him in a fair challenge. Roddy believed that in his old age the Wizard had come to believe half the lies he had spun and that is where his newfound vanity came from. Since the wizard had appeared long ago and showed the people of Roddy's little village that he wielded magic power beyond their understanding he had never claimed that he himself was supperior to the villagers, he had just made it clear that he knew more and could use his knowledge to destroy the village if the people did not obey. Since childhood, when the Wizard had killed his parents, Roddy wanted to prove to the village that there was nothing special about the Wizard, that anyone could do his "magic" if they understood how it realy worked. He had become on of the Wizards Aprentices, and Enforcers to learn all he could, and by the time he was old enough to be taken seriously by the villagers, he knew that the Wizard's "powers" were nothing more then a bit of knowledge of how the world worked.
When the old Wizard had, during a village council, made the claim that he could and would kill anyone who disagreed with him because he was supperior to the regular folk, Roddy saw his chance. He walked out of he shadows of the tent, where he stood guard, and challenged the Wizard to a game of corners. At first the assembled council looked at him as if he was mad, they had understood the word "challege" that the wizard had used to mean combat, but eventualy it dawned on them too that this would be a way to break the assumption of invincibility that the Wizard had carried for over two generations. Seeing him defeated at anything and proving that he was wrong about anything, would make the younger generations realize that he was just human.
The game was set up in the main court yard of the village, and as the wizard had never bothered to aquaint himself with the local game, he quickly lost it, and lost it in the way most begginers lost their first games to those who knew the game well. He played like a child who could not see past the first three phases. The population of the village had assembled to see an Enforcer put in his place, and instead they witnessed the Wizard, who most of them had considered a half god, loose a challenge like a child. His hold over their immaginations was broken, and in less then a week he was driven out of the village as a fraud and a false prophet.
To prevent a similar situation from happening again to a later generation, it was decided that learning the ways of nature and the world had to be a priority in the village. So that noone could ever again take advantage of possesing knowledge that the villagers did not, and claim they knew magic or were godsent.

A council of the most learned villagers (mostly the older ex-Apprentices of the Wizard) was given the task of spreading their knowledge among the populace, and were named the "Elders" of the village.

So tempted to try being Mali again...

Update 1

Many civilizations spring up around the world. The people have learned the basic secrets of civilization and society, which includes a permanent settlement, fire, and stone tools.

Already war has begun. The Brittans have attacked the Britons across the chanel, in an attempt to score land. Low casualties on both sides for now, but the Brittans are gaining ground.

Random Events:

Grain Harvests are above normal in Upper Egypt (+1 Economy)
With the death of the wizard, more Roddinans study the planet (+1 Education)
Storms in the Aegean hinder all expansion.

From the Mod:
I know this is early, I plan to update twice. For those who did/do not send orders, I will/have increase(ed) your economy.
