Mad-Bax put together a very enjoyable and challenging game for GOTM 43 - thanks very much! :D

It was interesting to see that there were a high proportion of losses, and a very high proportion of diplomatic victories. Still, it was the old theme of fast conquests and dominations that made it to the top of the leaderboard.

At the very top was MiniMe, with a 490 AD domination win. In second place, Klarius submitted a 630 AD Conquest victory, missing-out on gold by only 36 points! In the bronze-medal position, it was Drazek with a very fast (440 AD) conquest victory - stunning stuff in a challenging deity game!

Summary of Medal Winners:

Well-done to all participants, including those that lost but still submitted - its great to see people stepping-up prepared to take-on the harder levels, and get out of their 'comfort zone'. :goodjob:

Whoo-hooo!!! The Cow!!!!
Mini-Me, Klarius, and Drazek :hatsoff: Awesome games, guys!

Redbad, congrats on your shield. I hope your accepting congratulations. Too bad about those nukes... I really want you to win the 20k next time, OK?
Not to take anything away from Leopalas, of course. Good one! :goodjob:

If I had managed to keep Persia from launching I would've probably been able to grab the 20k shield. I'll get it eventually.

:rotfl: This should be a new tradition. :D

Congrats Jove. Now you have the cow I stole in Cotm11.

Thanks to Mad-Bax, I really enjoyed this one.

Congrats ainwood up there at #7 - not rusty yet!

I thought klarius had it in the bag. Good job to all the winners. :goodjob:

Congrats Durtz, you got me by 1 turn. We'd have tied if I had switch my UN build with the Big Picture, but your score was higher.

Yay, my first "award" Well, that was an enormous amount of fun, and a great challenge. I'm just happy I won, even though the few other spaceship winners where a century faster :crazyeye: (as well as a few thousands points better  )

Congrats to all who participated, and thanks again for the great map :D

Thanks to mad-bax for designing an interesting and tough game! Congrats to the winners and  to all who toughed it out and submitted. More than half submitted losses, but I assure you its the difficult games (and all the good advice and spoiler information) that help you improve your game!

Congratulations to everyone who submitted, IMHO in this game even a red ambulance is an achievment (particularly when it is OCC).
Only 24 victories. According to statistics page it is the smallest number since GOTM14.

Congratulations to all the winners. :goodjob: And then I mean all the winners, getting a victory in this game is a real feat!

I really wish I could have finished this one, it was a great map. I think I might have been able to pull a win, if I'd only had the time...

Congrats to all. First ever gold
I felt I had a very good start and even though RL has had its demands these last few weeks I was very determined to finish the game. Originally thought about conquest but at 4AM in the morning on D-day I though enough was enough and went for domination instead (unbelievable how a couple of extra hours seem very long at 4am). I had already eliminated (read razed) most of england and vikings so domination could have come earlier if it was the original goal. But conquest wise I would never have been able to match Drazek's game anyways.

Now back to the vacation.

Congratulations to all who played and submitted. Thanks to the staff who provided us with one of the best games i played so far. I wont forget those Persians so soon...

yipee. My first award. Green ambulance.
a small comfort for the domination victory I would have achieved half a turn later...

congrats to all winners.

I was wondering, what does Incomplete-Retired mean? That was the case for my game, but I clicked on the turn-before-defeat button because I had no victory condition. Should I have not selected that option?

According to results table you loss:

SpiffyKeen7744 1415 630 Conquest Loss

Do you mean that you actualy did not play to the end?
If so, you should choose retirement, your score wold be slightly better, I guess.

I'm checking in from New Delhi this fine evening and thought I would offer my congrats to all the award winners (simply amazing games) and offer a few other comments:

1. I would really like to see more spoilers in the "classic" GOTM competitition. I realize that posting spoilers is optional, but I think it would be a great benefit to see more discussion in the threads. Discussion in the classic GOTM threads has really dropped off during the past few months.

2. I got the diplo shield???? I guess that just goes to show how fine a line there is between being competitive for the award and being the slowest to a victory condition at deity. In fact, there really isn't much room to miss out on a fast diplo or space effort at this level, as the AI is fairly capable of launching at an early date.

3. Condolences to Klarius, who once again posted an amazing conquest victory, and somehow still hasn't won the award. His conquest victories put "my" conquest award to shame. I just got lucky on choosing the right victory condition that time.

4. Kudos to the staff :goodjob: - that was an amazingly fast turnaround on the results. I guess it doesn't take too long to fact-check 24 submitted victories!
