I am wondering, has Fraxis ever releaced any info regarding System Requierments. I am asking since I need to know before I buy the game in the fall and I dont want to waste my money on a game that my computer cannot play.

Thanks.

From the wonderful Civrules' Civ4 Pre-release information docs:

http://www.civfanatics.com/civ4/info/#requirements

The [updated] Minimum System Requirements for the game are: 1 GHz CPU, 256MB RAM, and a 32MB video card with hardware transform and lighting capabilities. The recommended Specifications are: 512MB of ram, Pentium4 processor, and a recent graphics card (like the Radeon 9800).

I only hope that my radeon 8500 does the work :)

By the looks of my comp specs, I need a new computer ASAP .

Those specs are actually not high at all. If they wanted to, they could've been lots higher.

You should keep in mind, these are MINIMUM requirements. I'd guess for a satisfactory pace of the game it should be a P4, 2.x upwards GHz, and of course the more RAM, the better. Not to mention that a good graphics card will pay off, as well.

At the moment, I wonder if my ATI Radeon 9600 will still be good enough.

Those are pretty reasonable requirements for a 3D game. I just hope the graphics will eventually be worth it. What is shown in recent screenshots and videos is nice, but I hope it will still be improved.

Same here. So here's hoping your 'self-employment' thread comes up with some good ideas :goodjob:

I need a new comp anyways really for all these new games coming out, so i'm thinking i'm just gonna fork out and get one about the same time civ4 is released.

I don't understand why they don't just make an option to play the game with civ2 level of graphics or something.

That might make more sence. Prehaps Civ III level of graphics its the game thats important the graphics are just a bonus. Worry about the game before the graphics i say.

What with the 'what you see is what you get' terrian that would be impossiable. I mean just look at some of the screenshots!

If you have a computer that can't run that, you don't deserve to play the game. Fork out the $400 and get with the rest of the world, geez.

What are the requirements to play on a large map?

I heard the maps are going to be smalled in Civ4.

If graphics are not important, then why not return to playing Civ1 :p

We will keep that statement in mind
Don't dare to ever complain about Civ4 graphics, my friend... :p

Geez, Don't expect Civ IV to run in your Commodore 64, you'll need a better computer. I don't know whether is allowed to advertise in the forum, but I just have seen a Dell with a Celeron processor at 2.4 GHz and 3D video card for $300 after rebate. I am sure you can buy similar computers elsewhere, just try www.pricewatch.com

I am sorry if your desktop computer has a microprocessor that runs below 1 GHZ, it means that your computer is pretty old. More that 4 years old, I would say, which in computers time is a loooong time. If you cannot afford to buy a new computer, you still can play Civ III, which is a wonderful game. :)

If you consider upgrading and you have the money, just think about the tons of things you can do with your new computer (and you are not going to do because you'll spend all your spare time playing Civ IV, that happens to me with Civ III ;) )

Hugs and kisses.

Well, not everyone's priority is to have a good enough gaming system...

But some people simply want to play the game. :)

I just got an AMD Athlon 64 3500+ with 1gig of RAM and even more recently a 256mb Video Card. I can play Rome: Total War fairly smoothly at 1600x1200. If I want I can later upgrade it to a dual-core processer.

I don't think system requierments are going to be a problem for me. :D

Well some people don't have mommy and daddy buying them the latest computer whenever they want it. I'm a student and if my last computer hadn't died a year ago I wouldn't have been able to justify buying a new one.

So yeah, just becuase you're 15 and still get whatever you want,
