Following some requests for a leaderhead to be used in different scenarios to represent the Papal States, here is a leaderhead which will fulfill that need. It isn't supposed to be any particular Pope, so you can name it however you want.

Well, I don't think an era-specific leaderhead is completely necessary. It would be almost pointless to have the Pope located in a place other than the Vatican, which hasn't probably changed much over the last 500 years. (and neither have the clothes he would wear)

The only thing I'd like to do is another version, wearing a triregno (some kind of weird crown with three tiaras), which could be more suitable for a middle ages Pope, but I lack a proper prop (though I'd accept it if anyone made one ;) )

well acctually I was gonna ask if the first two LH could be without the hat, but thought that was a bit much...

The mod Im working on (Discordia) is a non-time specific, random Mod...no scenario...no theme...just a bunch of Random Civs and the units appropriate to them...

Well Era specific is kind of pointless because the pope's clothes over the last 1700 years has been almost exactly same Just the backround could be different if anything would be different. Mabye Ancient has SPQR or somthing in the backround.

IMHO it wouldn't be that pointless. In the ancient era he would probably have a clearly different look (though I don't know what the first popes looked like...), in medieval he could wear that triregno jorde mentioned. In industial he could look like he looks now, and in modern he could wear a simple white costume with a simple cap.
And of course the backgrounds could be changed: maybe something like catacombs (representing the early christians) in ancient, then a romanesque church (San Giovanni in Laterano?), then St. Peters Dome and a modern buidling like the Vaticans' audience hall for modern.

Just some ideas, though.

Ancient Popes obviously looked different from modern ones (Damasus I is supposed to have been the first to dress really magnificently). And you could give a medieval Pope an Avignon background, if he was from the fourteenth century.
