Welcome to the Office of the President!

September 10th, 1025 BC
To open this thread, I had intended to ask a bunch of questions regarding the worst potential aspects of our then-current situation, after which I would wittily reply "Not on my watch!"

However, with the term a third of the way over and with Fanatikos on the verge of glory again, I decided I will now just let the title speak for itself.

Please feel free to bring into this office any question, idea or grievance you may have and I will do my best to expedite your query in the most efficient way possible.

Respectfully,

Donovan Zoi
President of Fanatikos

I ask you to watch what your DPs do, and not have sloppy play, like our last turnchat. My city has mysteriously gone from size 2 to size 1, and the warrior is nowhere in sight. Nobody (the player) didn't even listen to my questions about the barbs and a save to look at.

Actually, Chieftess, I think that the barbarians did that. And about Nobody, well, I didn't vote for him anyway in any of these elections.

Congratulations Mr. President Election. Do you plan to have applications for Vice President or will you first offer the job to Octavian X? I would be interesting in applying.

I find the lack of fine foods within the Presidents Office slightly disturbing.

I left the President a nice box of doughnuts while I was vacating the Office. :)

And, to B_H, I'll say that there's no provision in the consitutution for a Vice President. A Deputy President, maybe, but not a Vice one. :p

In any case, I am not interested in the job.

Citizens of Fanatikos,

It seems that there is already some interest in the position for Deputy President. However, I am pleased to announce that I have already spoken with DaveShack and he has agreed to fill in during times I cannot give our great nation the attention it deserves.

Thanks to all for the warm welcome; I look forward to working with each and every one of you. The President's Office will foster an open door policy, so please feel free to address any concern you may have.

For those of you wondering when our first turnchat will be, I can assure you it will be either Saturday or Sunday. I will try to have the details ironed out before this time tomorrow.

I hope that everyone is ready for an eventful term. Please participate in all pertinent discussions, as your input can only make us stronger.

Respectfully,

Donovan Zoi
President of Fanatikos

Mr President,

I wrote on Term I thread that I strongly suppport your idea of lowering the luxury slider down to zero. For now, the wines are making one happy face per connected city, and the military police keeps the citizens' mouths shut. We must concentrate on increasing the income and the science slider, as we must get the GL ASAP before the AI does.

Thanks for your interest, Civlord. That is indeed my intention.

If we are lucky enough to win the race to Philosophy (5 turns away), it's likely the people will vote Literature for our free tech. This will give us a good chance at tech parity with trades alone. I will ask our T & T advisor to start a discussion on what to do if we win the Philo gambit.

One thing we have to watch for is the slow drain of gold as we build new units and city improvements. Right now, we are sitting at 100% science, -1 gpt. With only 53 gold in the bank, our treasury could dwindle away fast if we are not careful.

Mr. President - a suggestion to help aid the people in these new times!

I've noticed (and I've been part of that problem), that those of us that are helping run the nation (the DP's) are putting a summary of the results of our efforts in one place. We're putting them in a different place each time. In ages past, the President handled all of these matters, as they were the sole power in charge.

Would you, the President, be willing to maintain that summary information? Keep a central repository of the past actions of our nation, and a summary of our progress through the years?

Donovan Zoi, I would like to ask you add my MSN: tobetested@hotmail.com, as I got an idea I want to discuss in chat on how to remedy the gold problem.

Greeks main advantage is commerce and science, and in a 5BC game, 21 tiles of rotten plains with some scant forests around is not necessarily nirvana. Gold will be the main issue for our civ in this limited city challenge, food is not necessarily the issue.
I found a way to make City 5 be the Golden City on the Hill producing that gold, but that means one needs to turn the deaf ear to the 21 Tiles Adventists.

Tundra, Plains and Desert are not my kinds of Nirvana, and we need to consider that second port in order to get the strategic flexibility.

I was going to make a similar suggestion to ravensfire. We used to have a turnchat schedule and summary thread. There's one stickied in the main forum that has never been used. Perhaps the President could help the DPs organise their schedule and post it in that thread, linking to the turnchat threads as they are created and adding links to the saves, chatlogs and summaries after they are written. This would create the master index of all the saves, summaries and chatlogs that we used to have and are sadly missing this game.

Loosing gold would be disastrous. Anyway, if we have any improvements anywhere then they are going to be sold. We must start discussing and voting the new luxury slider policy now so I hope we can lower it on the next turnchat or as soon as possible. If any city shows any sign of disorder, we should increase the military police to the maximum (2 in despotism, I believe).

I will do my best. My goal is to try to streamline the game session information released to the public so that it is easy to follow. In that respect, I will need to coach the DPs to help secure me that information.

Regarding your earlier turnchat time question, I should have that resolved by tonight.

That's my plan, Furiey. :) Now that ravensfire has provided me with the DP session order, I can now work with these citizens via the DP thread (and PM to be safe) to ensure their session is scheduled reasonably. That said, I will be contacting Provolution on his DP duties by tomorrow.

I am still perusing the forums, and will add the TC Summary thread to my list of priorities.

Well, I am glad to announce that Term II starts tomorrow!

Good luck, DZ!
