This thread is for a reference so that we can know which techs we have an which ones we do not have. Once we have finished an era, regardless of if we have researched the optional techs or not, There will be a picture of the F6 screen. So here are the symbols and what they mean.

+ means that we have this tech
- means we do not have this
* means this is an optional tech.
! means we are currently researching this tech.

NOTE:

If you see something that has not been updated with this thread, then please PM what is wrong. :thanx:

Could someone :wavey: ... Anyone :worship:

Please add levels and beaker costs and also mention the formula to calculate the reduction in costs when other teams know the tech.

Lets get this thread Super Usefull so we can all do the maths ;)

Is virtually essential for Foreign Department :D

Thanks

I think the monopoly beaker cost of a tech for this game is 30 times the base cost that classical_hero just posted (ex. pottery = 60 beakers if nobody knows it yet).

Each civ that knows it reduces the cost by 1/7 (ex. pottery = 51 beakers if 1 civ knows it, 42 beakers if 2 civs know it, and 34 if 3 civs know it).

Here is a thread that explains the inner workings of the research cost.
Research Costs This is lacking some things for C#C, like the extra levels, but we are just on emporer and it is covered.

This thread would be much more useful if the beaker costs were listed in parentheses along with the name of the tech. For example:

Pottery (2=60) +

Then when someone is in a chat, and a tech trade come up, the person only needs to open this thread to see all the info they need to evaluate the trade, rather than clicking through a couple links to get there.

But that will change if someone researches it, so it is impractical to do so.

Ummm ... Chamnix has already mentioned the factor change 1/7th per team knowing ... I think Peter means that it would be extremey usefull for many reasons if you add the base value to the technologies in the first few posts ... as it is stands at the moment this thread is virtually useless to easily and quickly calculating relative values of techs :)

Pottery 2=60 [8.6]
Ceremonial Burial 2=60 [8.6]
Bronze Working 3=90 [8.6]
WarriorCode 3=90 [12.9]
Masonry 4=120 [17.1]
Mysticism 4=120 [17.1]
The Wheel 4=120 [17.1]
Alphabet 5=150 [21.4]
Horseback Riding 5=150 [21.4]
Iron Working 6=180 [25.7]
Philosophy 6=180 [25.7]
Mathematics 8=240 [34.3]
Writing 8=240 [34.3]
Code of Laws 10=300 [42.9]
Literature 10=300 [42.9]
Map Making 12=360 [51.4]
Polytheism 12=360 [51.4]
Currency 16=480 [68.6]
Construction 20=600 [85.7]
Monarchy 24=720 [102.9]
Republic 28=840 [120]

Is this a useful format for the techlist? Is it legible? the 1/7th cost is in brackets, the base cost on the left of the "=", and the beaker value to the right. We should really make sure that we have a useful system in place before we enter the next era.

Middle Ages

Technology - base = beakers [1/7th]

Chivalry - 32 = 960 [137]
Feudalism - 32 = 960 [137]

The Industrial Era

Espionage - 90* = 2700 [386]

Ironclads - 100* = 3000 [429]
Medicine - 100 = 3000 [429]

The Corporation - 100 = 3000 [429]

Electronics - 180 = 5400 [771]
Flight - 180 = 5400 [771]
Atomic Theory - 200 = 6000 [857]

Just a note - the 1/7 reduction per civ that knows the tech applies because there are 4 civs in the game. Once a civ is eliminated, I think the reduction will change. I think with 3 civs, the cost drops by 1/5 per civ that knows it, but I can't find the article right now.

EDIT - Found it. It looks like the tech cost should drop by 1/5.25 per civ that knows a tech once we are down to 3 civs.
