Check out this site. It uses data from the US Census (apparently) to give you a statistical breakdown of your neighborhood in terms of socioeconomics. The interface sucks. but enter your address in "find" then click on "info" and it will eventually give you stats. US only, of course.

It seems to break down every city into hundreds of different neighborhoods, which are smaller than the neighborhoods that the city is actually broken down into, so its not entirely accurate, but it gives you an idea of what your immediate neighborhood is like.

Statistics from my own neighborhood:
median income: $48,684
median age: 39

Racial Composition:
White: 97%
Asian: 2.3%
American Indian: 0.33%
Black: 0.25%

Of these, 11.15% consider themselves "Hispanic", which the US Census does not consider a race.

I couldn't seem to get some of the info. Site is kind of slow.

Anyway where I used to live (parents' house, i'm in college right now) the median income is $141,205.

The block in which I live in New York city, the median income is $79,142. Interesting how they have income per block for New York.

$54,545 in my neighborhood, about even all through town, give or take a couple grand.

I can't get the same precision of data on my home town, but here's what I can find (as of 2001):

The way they did my neighborhood is funny. They included a part of the town that is desperately poor (~$10,000 annual income) and another part of the town that is upper-middle class (~$150,000 annual income) all together, with a median income of $124,231. (Note that this is in the expensive NYC suburbs - while $124,231 would be a lot elsewhere, in dense suburbs like where I live, high incomes are offset by high costs of living.)

Anyway, I can't get the information in a neat block. How did you guys get that?

My neighborhood:

Population

Population: 2,538
[/i]Of those...[/i]
1,562 are White
510 are Black
14 are American Indian
44 are Asian
2 are Hawaiian
284 are another race
122 are 2 or more races

Socio-Economic Breakdown

Median Household Income: $53,083
-For Blacks: $41,000
-For Asians: 66,364
-For Hispanics: 40,714
People below the poverty line: 287
Percentage below the poverty line: 11%
Percentage without a High School Diploma (over 25): 17%

My neighborhood, however, has a huge range of income levels. The projects across from my apartment, for example, are extremely poor whereas the apartment building a block away is middle class.

Edit: My old neighborhood, which borders my new one, has a median household income of $50,067. Suppose that means I'm moving up :-D

Blackheart, just out of curiosity, what part of Iowa do you live in?

$23,971 per household means that, after federal income taxes (assuming the household is a married couple filing one return) the family only has $21,324.35. That translates to roughly $58.42 a DAY.

Sioux City, Iowa. The western part. I would be under the Asian income though. I live in the poorest part of town.

It says my neighborhood's median income is $34,236.

They're a couple hundred thousands off. :(

Are you sure you're not thinking average?

100,000 to 125,000 but they have a screwed up view of my neighborhood. (they include Winchester and Fairway as part of my neighborhood but really I live in their poorer cousin, Goose Valley Lake. Oh and they also include the mansion on Geraldine, no wonder it says my neighborhood is so "rich.")

edit: Oh and my "neighborhood" leads in all the other stats too. Even the old people stat which is surprising sinc eit is full of old people.

edit 2: Oh and by lead I ofcourse mean less of since most of those statistics are of bad things. (no high school diploma, can't speak English, etc.)

My neighborhood's median income is $37,169, and its population is 1,343.

...dang, but that's a big neighborhood they've grouped us in! Probably only about an 1/8 of the roads they have on there are in my neighborhood as I think of it. It's like they decided that borders have to be on the busier streets, and they can't deviate from them.

Granville Ohio (my old hometown)

Median Income =67,545

10 hispanic residents...haha, thats two families! and one of them is mine

$45,000-$55,000 in my neck of the woods, and apparently, $100,000 towards Timonium/Cockeysville. Something's wrong with that figure... Besides, that was in 1999, just before the bubble burst. So, incomes probably have gone down a bit since then. There are $20,000-$40,000 income communities scattered around the area though. More in the city than in the suburbs. Less than 5% are poverty-stricken.

African American - 0-5% (probably a little higher now)
Latino - 0-5%
Native American - 0-5%
Asian - 0-5%

20-40% have no diploma. :hmm: That's very wrong, unless they're including kids.

Agegroup (15-24) - 10-20%. Would be 21-29 now. That's about right, since I lot of kids I know have moved.
