It doesn't seem to stop spam cause people just add extra characters.

And doesn't everyone hate seeing this message...

If it causes any extra pain to spammers trying to post one-smiley replies, I am all for it. :whipped: :p

I thought it was hardwired into VB v.3 or has everyone just been lieing to me?

The thing is I have seen people with "legit" replys that are less then 10 chars. And they have to add more and it ends up being crazy reading through threads with "xlc" or "10 chararter limit" everywhere (I know an overexaduration). I've even seen mods having to add extra chars.

It's not a fool prof way to stop spammers; some of them will go ahead and type a longer message to make their post appear legit. :mischief:

You're right. If we see people filling in characters to make it up to 10, then we should immediately delete the post without prejudice.
Well then you've got a lot of work cut out for you!

I think that it's best quality is catiching people who accidently post with nothing written, not that I've ever tried to do that :mischief: .

However sometimes a simple "Yes" can mean a whole lot more then: "Wow, the athority and ability shown is astowding, you should be on TV, Radio, and have an entire script written about you, also I love your avator, but I don't want to use it, and your signature, but I don't want to copy it. Also, why is the E in your signature capitilized, is there a point there? I don't care if there is however, whatever you choose is up to you, and I like this smilly :nospam:, is this your faverate smilly ?"

Then you would even have to delete one of TF's posts

ABCEDFGHIJ limit must go. Often with some PBEMS, all you need to say is "GPS" so that people know that you have sent on the game. The limit is pointless, because a good spammer will find ways around it. :yeah:

Man, we've discussed this too many times.
Abolish the 10 char minimum, and delete any posts with less than 10 characters, or any of those dopey things like
"The XCL is so stupid"

See I am spamming right now, but I have more then 10 charactors. IN YOUR FACE AUTORITY!!!!!!

though actually I dont wanna see any posts with less then a dozen charactors cause that is like 2 words anda smillie

Yes, Ditto :p

I don't like it. On the rare occasions when I want 10 characters, I'll circumvent. So, the rule really doesn't mean anything to me except that my shortest of short posts look crappy.

If someone asks a technical question in the computer forum, sometimes just answering "Yes" or "No" is sufficient. So the 10 character limit is buggy when it comes to that ;)
