Just saying hi.

I have been lurking on these forums a lot over the past few months but never bothered to register. I used to stop by back when I played Civ III, but now the coming of Civ IV caused me to register so I could post.

I started with Civilization back with Civ I and have been a big fan ever since. My friends and I spent hundreds if not thousands of hours playing, modding, and talking about Civ II. I am in Costa Rica now (study abroad) and when I left home for the year, the only game I took with me for my laptop was Civ II Gold Edition. I just reinstalled a few days ago and fell behind in every aspect of my life again.

I won't be able to play Civ IV until Christmas when I get home, which really hurts. But in the meantime I ahve been learning some Python and HTML (will look into XML when I get back). I came across the Python thread on here (started in 2004!!!) and went to the site and downloaded it (I don't have the interent on my laptop). I want to extend a very big THANK YOU to the writer of that Python guide. It is well written and I am learning a lot. I have never programmed anything before and I am following it well. I plan on getting a book on it when I get home, but this is a wonderful first introduction.

So that is pretty much it for my first post here. Yeah.

I was a very active member of the Civ3 Creation and Customization forum, but have left in anticipation of Civ IV. Rest assured, my activity on this forum will once again gain immensely in intensity once Civ IV comes out.

I really looking forward to the modding community for Civ IV. I know there will be some absolutely outstanding modifications.

Second: That's funny! When playing civ3 my participation on this Forum was very high for approx. 6-8 weeks, then it went down! I was busy playing the game as it was "out of the box" (after patching it until it worked .
After a while I came back and downloaded warpstorms beautiful graphics mod and participated a lot. Then my eagerness fell asleep again, until I started playing a few GOTM's (Maybe the civ4-GOTM's will keep me "glued" to CFC).

Nevertheless I always dropped by to lurk and see what's going on here! Great site to gather infos and find great hints and mods!

I can't wait for the game to come out. I also can't wait for the Pitboss stuff. Perhaps we can have a Civ Fanatics server or two? I know that waiting feeling; it's like a monkey on your back that screams CIV IV night and day. If it doesn't get its fix -- who knows what it will do.

I hope to be able to post up some mods eventually. My friends and I had our own fantasy world way back in the day (early high school years) with civs with distinctive play styles, custom units, acompanying graphic novels, all that stuff.

A modder!!! I have a big respect for modders since it's sth. I'm not capable of doing but very eager to use!
