Math07: 50K or bust

Another culture game, this time the goal is single-city cultural victory. The limit for this will be increased from the easy-to-reach 20K to an astronomical 50K. Entire-civ trigger will likewise be increased in order to avoid that non-victory. I am also considering turning conquest and domination VCs off so that we can remove the AI from the end-game.

Difficulty level Monarch/Emperor. All other settings TBD.

Emm ... How can 50K be reached before 2050?
 
lurker's comment: maybe me..., by the way, I would recommend Babylon, and turn off Space Race, Conquest doesent need to be turned off, just domination.
 
Take a look at the High Score Hall of Fame, in particular the 20K victories on standard maps. The earliest on Monarch is 1475 AD, and on Emperor is 1550 AD. Both of those would exceed 60K by 2050 AD, and both were C3C 1.22. 20K by 1750 AD isn't extremely difficult, and from that point 150 cpt would be enough to reach 50K by 2050 AD.

Of course, victory conditions don't need to be turned off. The reason for disabling conquest vicotry, and to a lesser extent domination, is to allow the last 150 turns or so to be played with the least interference.
 
lurker's comment: the only problem is that nearing about 50k, the AI gets MEGA-Agressive and lines up a ton of tanks on your doorstep.:sad:
 
I think you givet the AI too much credit in their smarts. They'd never consider trying to attack a 50k city.


The reason I want the city to not be the capital is because on emperor (which is what I think we should play) the palace prebuild comes in handy, and our capital needs to pump settlers for a quicker conquest phase (so we can get tons of SGL's).

One question, though, can future tech bring in SGL's?

OCC? Then I guess ivory for Zeus is a must. The world needs to be small or tiny so that ancient cavalries can ensure the AIs to become quite fast. Our civ needs to be scientific for 5% chance of SGL. Babylon? 2 turn anarchy and 110 shields cut from temple and cathedral are nice.
 
OCC or OBC? OCC you can't build heroic epic, which contributes 4 cpt ... and war academy, 1 cpt; pentagon, 1 cpt.
 
Don't forget about the FP. If this is a needed build it requires 10 cities.

In truth the more cities we have the more I've noticed players tend to lose focus on the primary objective. Players tend to start putting more attention on warmongering and accidently forget about key decisions on the main goal.

Plus since we're going for 50k this game is going to be extremely long [recall Math04]. If we stick with a very few amount of cities [or just one] it would help speed the game up. If we went with any amount of cities than wiping all of our opponents out so we don't have to deal with them at a later date would help keep the pace up.

It also depends on whether all these city required builds are even needed.
