First time poster here. Can't wait to get Civ 4.

Just one suggestion. I'd suggest a bigger selection of civ leaders. Only a few of them have two, and from what I've seen, most only have one. I think it would help make the gameplay more unpredictable if all civs had 2, because, at this point you know what the Greeks, Romans, etc. are going to do every time.

I agree. Though we are well past that, I don't really see why they didn't just give every Civ 2 leaders. IMO if a civ doesn't have two worthy leaders you could argue that it's not worthy of being a civ.

But only 1 Egyption leader, only one Japanese leader, etc. seems strange. Why give some two?

Yeah, some of the civilizations that only have 1 leader are questionable. It seems crazy for Egypt, Rome, Japan, and Greece not to have 2, since there are so many excellent choices.

Hope I'm not coming off like a complainer, but that's just what I feel.

I'll agree with that, but maybe they're trying to leave some room for modders?

What I would've liked to see is a selection screen to start the game that allows you to choose your two traits or create your own leaders before beginning the game. That way if you like Industrious and Spiritual you don't have to play as Ghandi and get the Fast Worker UU... you could play as Rome, or France, or whoever you want and choose those two traits... In Civ III I love Egypt for Industrious and Religious but there special unit wasn't so special... On the other hand the Mayans had a great special Unit that captured slaves when it won but the 7 turns of Anarchy drove me crazy...

I guess you could always create your own civ the way you like. That's one possible answer to the question.

I know you can randomize the leader's personalities, but can you randomize the bonuses for each civ? I think that might add even more replay value, if you didn't know what your own bonuses were or those of your enemies. That way you'd have to play each game differently.

yeah! i want a philosofical and industrious leader!:D

for the next civ I suppose, more civ-customization would be great (say, you have some 'civpoints' to spend a the beginning of the game, to spend in features, in a much more flexible way than just selecting a leader with two traits)

I wonder what it will look like when you make custom civs and then negotiate with them? I hope they give a pack of generic faces that you can use, instead of having a blank face or something of that nature.

The one leader thing is mostly because those civs would have very similar 2nd leaders. For instance, Japan has Tokugawa. Not even Tojo or something like that would be extremely different. I still don't like it, but they need colorfully different leader choices. Persia, with Cyrus or Darius or Xerxes, they're all too similar.

The answer for that is simple, time and money. They were only given so much of each to make the game. Leaderhead animations take a lot of time to do nicely.
