Then how would you determine the borders? Culture is a major part of the Civ design.

Indeed, I love the culture and border concepts.

I'll go with default options for quite a while, I'm sure, then eventually try some options.

Looking at complaints on this forum, I think there should be some additional options, like No Wild Animals and Shields instead of Hammers :)

Don't think too harsh of the wild animals, it appears that they aren't very strong (unless compared to a settler), but they'll probably get your warriors exp, right?

I like the idea of wild animals in Civ4, but it seems some people don't like it, so there should be an option for them.

Random Personalities seems like the best way to spice up the game.

I have no problem with it when it expands your border over unclaimed territory, but the minute it causes your border to expand INTO an opponents land- basically STEALING his land is when it gets ridiculous. When the borders of two nations meet that border should be fixed except for adjustments after a war or diplomacy (trading/annexing land).

The "one city challenge" seems very interesting. It, again, brings me to hope that there will be such monthly challenges for civ4!

Hmm...good question...It sounds good, though

I would assume this dials back the maddening trend of a city you just conquered going back to the other civ after two, three or five turns no matter how many troops you garrison in there.

But, my mama told me never to assume...

I checked all the victory conditions, because I like to keep my options open.

I don't think that there is any optional condition that I would use all the time, but some of them (e.g., One City and Always Peace) are intriguing enough that I will try them out at least once.

It means that even after you have destroyed a civ, a city can still fip back to them, resurecting the conqured civ.

I figured it meant that the city wil lretain it's culture after you conquere dit so say it had 3000, it won't suddenly go down to zero.

I actually find the game options very interesting.

Always War, and One-City Challenge are clearly based on Civ3 SG play. :)

Not all of those options are equal. Some are style choices (OCC, Always War, etc.), others are victory conditions, and others are rule changes. I'm highly unlikely to turn off any rules or abilities. City flipping? Ok. Tech trading? Ok. City razing? Ok. Permanent alliances, though, I would disable because they just don't seem right. You should always be able to back out. You may have to pay heavy consequences, but that should be your choice.

Wouldn't they name that "NO city flipping after conquest?" Maddening naming convention, if you ask me...

Hey, TCJSavannah, click "My Real Avatar" in my sig :D You won't regret it :D:goodjob:
