In the newest issue of the swedish computer and video games magazine Super PLAY, which I got in the mail today, Civ IV got a 10 out of 10 score, and this magazine isn´t too generous with the score.

They praise the game for being intuitive, a novice can start playing at once, but for a serious gamer there's a lot of complexity beneath the surface. The controls and interface is described as streamlined.

The reviewers talk about how Civ IV brings back memories of Civ I, the just-one-more-turn syndrome is back with the same strength as in the first game, how the same magic and addictive feeling is back.

Graphics: 8/10, Sound: 8/10, Control: 10/10, Value: 10/10, Total: 10/10.
Summary: Love at first - and hundreth - sight.

Nice@!

Would you mind typing up the entire article? :mischief:

If you just got the magazine in the mail, I highly doubt they would put it up on the net. Why buy the magazine when you can just view it online?

It is awesome to hear it got a 10/10 though :)

Swedish/English translator:

The pages have to be translated one at a time though, so it's cumbersome at best. Got some mention of civ4 in the forum ('FORUMET') section, but nothing like a new article is mentioned.

OMTS is back?? terrible terrible. :)

This review can't be based on much. The online multiplayer portion of the game isn't up on GameSpy yet. Hell, the game just went Gold like two days ago... they must have reviewed the game based on a beta version.

Which, if anything, means that the final release probably deserves BETTER than the 10/10 it got.

Eh... They can still play MP games with each other, they don't need gamespy to do it.

Great score hopefully rest of the neviews coming out soon will have nice scores :)

I like SuperPlay and really think most of their reviews are very good and accurate.

They are also very respected by game developers and publishers and usually get first interviews with people like Hideo Kojima (maker/director/game designer behind Metal Gear Solid) and Shigeru Miyamoto (U know who this is, Nintendos uber designer, creator of Mario).

This is great. ^^ 10/10 woot.

it got 8 for graphics??? it deaserves 5

Maybe because the game look much better in motion than looking at still and low-quality screenshots.

And to quote my self from the graphics thread:

You have to remember that graphics appeal is very subjective. I actually like the graphics of the games some of you had used as examples for "bad" graphics. For example, I prefer the graphics of civ 2 over civ 3(unmoded). Civ 2's terrain graphics just look so much better than the bland feel of civ 3's terrain to me, and I play civ 2 after civ 3.
