The Hercules C-130 transport plane.

The remarkable C-130 has been in service for over 50 years. It is a turbo-prop transport, but has served 100's of roles and has had over dozens of unique configurations. It is the preferred transport plane of the USA and over 60 other nations.
It is fast (345-417 mph), has a long range (2500-5200 miles), reliable, flexible, and inexpensive.
It can transport 92 troops (or 64 fully laden paratroopers) or 42,000 pounds of cargo.

---
I forgot to mention, that this unit is scaled from the Firaxis B17 bomber. The C-130 is 30% longer. This unit is 30% longer - 1 pixel.

Real nice. :goodjob:

BTW, I can't find the units 32 icon. Just the large and the small (and the alternate ones).

I like it, especially since I no longer bother with the deaths hitting the ground. They go by so fast anyway.

Wonderful unit! You're getting better and better.

Only one thing I thought about:
You wrote this plane is used by around 60 countries.
Maybe you could do another variant in one-fits-all grey color?

Anyway, I'm gonna use it.

nice unit.
how you can make the AI use transport-aircraft, if you don't want to give them the paradrop(helicopter)ability?

Thanks guys, I'm glad you enjoy it.

@Bluemofia: I somehow left it out of the zip. The zip has been updated and now includes it. Sorry.

@Wyrmshadow: Thanks. That death was fun to make, but took ages (over 40mins per facing) to render. It does take alot more time to do a ground impact. But since this was a transport and there were really only two animations, I thought I'd go ahead this time... in part because I'd never done one of those deaths before.

@Ares de Borg: I might do another, but this one is fairly generic @ civ scale the USA logos are not visible. If I do another verison, it will probably have to have a simplified death... as I don't like sitting there for that long (6 hours)

@Jatibi: I'm not sure. It may well be that for the AI to use this, it must be used as a long range helicopter. But then again, it has often been used to paradrop troops in real life.

Great unit. Glad you chose to do it. :)

Now then, onto my Daedalus? ;)
No not yet. I have several units further along then the Daedalus. Since my time for unit creation has been a bit spotty, I think I will make my next few ones I can complete quickly.
But rest easy, as an SG fan the Daedalus remains an important unit to me, and I will do it.

Looks great... :goodjob: You finished it quite quickly this one... What's next?

COOL :D me likez: very clear, no ghost pixels and nicely animated. Any plans for a more genericaly useable green version (without US decals?)... or perhaps a Transall C-160 with German and French decals :)??

very similar designs...

@Flamand: this was a simple unit. So it did not take much time. Up next, I'm not sure. I've been going through my partially completed units trying select one.

@Winter: I may well do a more generic one. Probably go with the universal gray if I do. I may also do another transport entirely. As I told Ares, if I do another c-130 I will probably go with a simpler death so it renders faster.

Those kids keep asking for more. :D
That happens when your work gets too good. ;)

Seriously, it's great to hear that you'll do another variant. Thanks in advance.

Perhaps the Stryker?:mischief:
The Stryker was one of the 4 I was considering. I decided I want to remake parts of it since I've learned a few more things, so it is not the next one. But it remains on my short list.

Next up will be another transport.

@Winter: I hope the Casa C-295 is close enough to your C-160. I think after this I will move away from transports for a few units.

Cool, I like the the C235/295 (though the Transall is closer to the dimesnions and bulkyness of the Hercules. Perhaps some day one could make a larger and bulkier model out of the C-295, taking away the reinforced structure holding the wings and some changes to the rudder, lower rump, a larger nose and such...)

In any way, the little bro of the turbo-prop transports will come in handy :)

thanks. Just what I needed to be looking for, but for some reason I can't find the c130_units_32.pcx in the zip?
