How could you forget to add, Abe Lincoln, Zulu Shaka, and Ramsus. They are the most widely known people. They have been in every Civilization Game except this one. HOW COULD THEY FORGET TO ADD THEM! It really annoys me, even irritates me. They need a expansion for more leaders . Even create a Civ leader for New Zealand, and Australia. And why has none of the civ games had Adolfe Hitler, he did make a big impact on our world.

Bad taste.

If you go about something missing that had a big impact on our lives, then i more hate that they forget a nation that was a big player in europe for hundred of years and had a lot life changing research (for example, finding a way to can manufacture aluminium in a reasonable way) and that is the Austrian Hungarian Monarchy. Would like to play that nation for once.

1- Ramsus wasnt in Civ 3
2- Lincoln effected the world, but Rosevelt and Washington did it more.
3- The Zulu dont deserve to even be in the game, they are a tribe not a civilization
4- If Hitler was in the gamwe, that shows poor taste. I agree that he changed the world, but it just wont happen EVER.
5- Sorry to every Australian, but you haven't even been your own country for 100 years, that isnt much of a civilization.
6- an expansion will come with more leaders so you dont need to cry about it.
7- And I would argue that lincoln, and Ramsus are the not most known. (Zulu I only know FROM civ)

SO now that I have answered all of your questions this thread is pointless.:D

In order to answer the question why Adolf Hitler aint in the game is quite easy. Is there in game any rules/king/emperor/president which lived about 60 years ago? No the devs has chosen for "ancient" rulers.

A Civ leader for New Zealand, was there any leader from New Zealand which has done anything for the world. I am not familiar with any of them!

F.D. Roosevelt ?

I guess people don't care about the millions of chinese peasentry that Genghis Khan wiped out just to prove a point, then

People need to stop pandering to the PC hypocrites, it's hilarious how they'd all boycott a game that has Adolf Hitler in it yet has people that were equally bad / even worse:lol:

Goes to show how sick and disgusting this world is, people only caring about something when someone they knew was effected

I also agree, there's too many 'ancient' civs and not enough modern ones. I'd like to see the Soviets make the game (Technically Soviets weren't Russians, Russia was just one of the states), possibly Australia, South Africa or even Isreal would be cool

Well to be honest I do not care much about who is in "charge" of a culture. By all means I will dominate! :-)

Sid has chosen in the first civ for some cultures out of several eras, from several continents. He made a good choice in my oppinion.

Folks always relate games to the "real world". Again, and I think this has said millions of times, a game is fiction! A name of a leader doesn't means anything in the game, a name of a culture doesn't mean anything in the game. It are just labels, nothing more!

Commonwealth of Australia founded January 26, 1901. That's 104 years! That's why we call January 26 AUSTRALIA DAY

Shows how much you know about Australian history I am the Future. Don't flame my nationality without getting your facts straight.

gosh 104 years!

Well when you live in Europe you do not see much from australia. The only thing we see is the fireworks over Sidney on new year nite :)

Have to agree with you, I dont know anything about australian history. But the history books cant be that thick  hahah

Yes, yes that was a bit petty saying it's older than 100 years;) .....but I reserve my right to defend my nation!

Australia and New Zealand ARE First-World countries....and there is a culture that goes back over 40 000 years (at least in Australia) namely the Aboriginals and the Maoris for New Zealand.

The history of Australia may not be as long as Europe, but it's time has been as detailed and interesting as any nation on Earth.

As an Australian (and a history buff), I honestly believe that there are many civilizations that should have priority over Australia in Civ4 expansions.

Oh, and neither the Maories or Aborigines (of Australia) can be considered civilizations in any real sense.

Adolf Hitler too short ago in history? As stated above Roosevelt was one of his menaces, as was Stalin (in previous Civs). And Ghandi.

And if Mao is in a lof of the Civs, including this one, why not Hitler? He was responible for a lot more deaths then Hitler. He caused about the same number of deaths as all of WW2 together. Maybe because Mao 'only' killed Chinese people, and not Europeans and Americans?

So IMHO leaders that can offend people should all be in or all be out. So if Mao or Stalin is in, then Hitler should be too. Or they all should not be in it.

BTW I don't think comparisons with cruel leaders in the past, like Ghenghis, is unfair. The world they lived in (middle ages) was totally different from today, while the world of Hitler/Mao/Stalin wasn't that much different from today. Only some 60 years ago!

make that number 1 million and 1 :-)

Fact is, people hate Hitler because he's Hitler, not because of what he did and nobody could ever equal or come close to being "worse than Hitler", no matter what they do, ever.

That's the sad fact of society, and perhaps the effect of propaganda.

That still doesn't mean that what Ghengis did can't be compared to what Hitler did. Genghis was far far worse, in my opinion. And Mao really didn't delibrately bring about the deaths of so many people; he was actually tying to make it so that they would produce more food, but it backfired and caused massive amounts of famine.

Who had more of an impact on the world, Elizabeth I, Richard III or Henry VIII? I'm thoroughly disappointed that in order to lead my own civilization I have to be a drag queen to do it. They need to have both Male & Female leaders available in my view.

As for Hitler, any game that recreates World War 2 should include Hitler, Churchill etc. The fact that people complain he isn't in the game just shows that altho he was a crackpot he changed the world. If it wasn't for WW2 technology would not be as advanced as it is today and it should be reflected in the game.

Abe Lincoln is in my view more deserving of being in the game than Elizabeth I or the Malinese people (no offence).

People are simply too sensitive about Hitler. There is no reason they ought to fuss over it; he was a human being like the rest of us. However, people do fuss over it, and it's a big enough issue that I'm not going to blame Firaxis for trying to be sensitive about peoples' feelings.

More than missing military leaders, I'd say that I really miss the different era costumes for the leaders. It was really cool in Civ III how they would dress appropriate to era.

=$= Big J Money =$=

The changing costumes really bugs the hell outa me too. You'd think with all the fancy new 3d graphics and assets that "evolve" with the period, it would be one the most important details.

I hope it gets added in the first expansion because every time I have to conduct some diplomacy it just grates on the nerves.

People hate Hitler because his shadow still lumes over the world. As new generations come, the name Hitler and the word Nazi will grow less and less offensive. That's how healing works. It's in bad taste to put Hitler in a video game when there are people still alive that have lost people due to his actions. Hitler had a huge impact on the world, I don't disagree with that. However, there are many better German rullers who deserve the spot. Don't worry, you will see Hitler in Civ XIII. I proimse! If I'm wrong you can spit on my grave. Well, your great grand kids can.
