I had to choose "custom music folder" under the audio options in game. Then click the browse button and point it to the folder X:\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Assets\Sounds\Soundtrack

So far it seems its playing the correct music for the age. This was disabled on my friends rig as well. I assume its the same for everyone.

It seemed to play any piece found in that folder or its sub folders, which includes all eras.

The music at the very beginning is very basic, almost sounding like background sound really. I didn't recognize it as music at first. I think it just ramps up over time, appropriately enough.

The music toggle is CTRL-M. Pressing that a few times and listening to the difference should tell you whether music is on or off for you (assuming you haven't specified a custom folder yet).

You can also click the "No Sounds" checkboxes at the bottom of the various sliders on the Audio Options screen, and listen for the differences to tell you whether anything you're hearing is actually classified as music or not.

You need to have the digital output plug on the back of your CD/DVD drive connected to the MB/Soundcard to have music playing automatically. :crazyeye:

Oddly enough (or not), mine worked fine the first time I ran it. I'd like to get rid of Nimoy's narration while the world is building, though.

See, I like it without the music while I'm playing the game, but I do like the music during the movies (which wasn't there when I played with the "no music" as set in the options page).
