Has anyone figured out how to abandon cities?

Specifically, I have a few enemy cities that my cultural border caused to revolt to my empire. Unfortunately, they are in horrible locations, and I would just like to get rid of them. However, I can't starve it out because the city square produces 2 food.

Any thoughts?

what's the point of commenting on two threads asking the same question willem? seems pointless bumping threads like that.

Two people asked the same question. I answered. It was easier than copy/pasting a link to the first one I replied to. So what's the problem here exactly?

If its not a feature then it wont happen in the game. With Civ 3 I think it would ony happen with an expansion pack, It was usefull for capturing an enemy city, selling everything in that city, then abondoning that city.

WOuldn't giving your cities away do better in Civ 4?
instead of abandoning them, build up relations by giving them away.....

It allows you to go and take the plum after giving away all of the pickles. :)

Giving them away is a fine answer... unless you've obtained them via an inadvertant culture flip and do NOT want them. Then they'll just come back (after 2-3 revolts anyway).

So our options are:

1) Giving them away to friends... with the risk of flipping them back to you again? And if so... does culture flipping an allies' city worsens relations?

2) Giving them to enemies / neutrals... as above. If flipping a city causes "bad feelings" this may actually be usefull to start a war without being the agressor.

3) Turning off ALL culture flipping at the custom setup screen

4) Using the editor to remove the city (cheating IMO)

I'm loving Civ4, but I do hope they reconsider and change this.
