I feel like sharing the story of my second game of Civ4. My first game i played for a few hours trying to figure everything out. I ended up losing later on in the game. Basically it was just a learning experience. I still havent even been close to figuring everything out yet.

Game Details: Standard size map. Continents. Low tide. 8 Civilizations. Noble difficulty. I am the aztecs. We are spiritual and agressive.

Well here i go wish me luck

Good luck! Oooh, I have to get Civ4 ASAP. I'm just a little too remote to get it easily yet.

Well so far things are going pretty good. I got off to alot better start than i did my first game. Ive only found 1 other civilization on my continent, the egyptians. My capital city is getting so much food that it is just growing in number in a few turns. It really makes things alot better since when you make workers and settlers it uses food and hammers to make them. But you cant gain food in your city as your making them it uses them all up. I founded confucianism and thats going to be my main religion i guess. So far i got 4 cities and more to come soon.

Here is a pic of my empire. So far things are going pretty well. There is no one but me and the egyptians on this continent. Kinda sucks in a way cuz its either i gotta fight them or sit there bored and peace the whole time with them for awhile. I got alot of cities but the biggest problem is the matinence. It seems the more cities i make the more its costing me. The further distance a city is from the capital the more money it costs. I am now down to 40% science as you can see. In my first game i was always at 100%. Any ideas on what to do?

That it is SUPPOSED to be that way in order to prevent the player from just spamming cities... I suggest taking city expansion down a notch.

Yeah, cut down on the cities. Also check to make sure your civics aren't costing you a lot in upkeep. Founding a relgions and spreading it to your many cities would bring in a steady stream of cash also.

What kind of relations do you have with the Egyptians?
Are they more friendly with you or more wary of you?

I would build up a huge army of your best unit Test SODs, see if they still work. Take elphentine as soon as posssible, major city in war. trust me. You are definetly best off testing the new war system

I like the way the Egyptian AI civ has placed Elephantine right at the chokepoint of the continent, although I can't tell if she'll be able to pass naval forces through. That was one of my favourite Civ 3 strategies, which worked well for me to discourage settler spam, at least before Map Making.

Their isnt a canal, at least It dosnt look like it. Kinda Hard to Tell, still it is definetly going to be a key city(rad my above post)

Wow so much has happened in just the past few hours. I was able to get my science back on track. My relationship has gone down with the Egyptians because they are christian and i am cunfucist. They kept asking for more and more things. I feared they may declare war on me so i built up a military and i think that scared them. I now have a decent size army which i will prepare to fight them with in the near future maybe. I actually started to do so well with all the new citiies that the people started asking for more so now i have even more cities then before. I was able to get my main building up for my religion. I finally met the romans and greeks. Just before i posted on here the Romans who were jewish converted to buddhism. It is becomming and ever more powerful Religion. It is the biggest one out there right now. So the greeks and Romans are both buddhist and that means they are pretty close partners. Its a shame the egyptians couldnt see things my way. My religion is better. Out of the four of the people i have meant so far i have the highest score. The Egyptians are no longer a threat to me. I have quite a few great wonders and am working on my forbiddon palace now. Here is the latest screenshot of the world. Post comments, advice or whatever the such. I willl get back to you guys shortly.

Good placement of the forbidden palace. Hopefully the Egyptians will begin seeing things your way! ;)

Its mine all mine. I finally declared war on the Egyptians and captured their city of El-Armana. Elephantine is next and is the holy city of christianity. So i guess i should keep that city then when i take it over? In other news i ran into yet another Buddhist the indians. They seem to be the most powerful in the game. Apparently though he doesnt get along with the greeks who are also buddhist. I ran into a couplle of hindus as well( spain and russia). They apparently dont like the buddhist and are mad at me for trading with them. After i declared war on egypt, spain declared war on me a few turns later. Everyone seems to have a religious partner cept for me and Egypt. Pretty soon Egypt will be no more. Buddhist is still the biggest religion followed by hindus and then my religion. Anyway let me know what ya guys think. Im done for the day.
