Welcome to my first Civ story! In this thread I will tell the tale of the great Egyptian Empire, ruled by the ever beautiful Queen Hatshepsut. I tend to make this a graphical tale and will take a long time to complete. I'll try to update this tale as frequent as possible. Comments are welcome, advice even more so! Queen Hatshepsut will be delighted to hear your welcome advice and comments... hell, even criticism about her reign (just don't be afraid of the lions and crocodiles she might throw at you).

Please come back soon as I'm starting Hatshepsut's tale...

The year is 4000 BC, a small nomadic tribe known as the Egyptians decide it's time to settle down. They recently discovered the secrets of The Wheel and Agriculture which allows their workers to build farms and roads and to build chariots if they can find horses in the area.
There is stone and incense in the nearby vicinity which will help the Egyptian people to construct World Wonders and bring happiness. The river Nile is streaming through the desert and the egyptian scout spots a small tribal village to the north...

The Egyptian people move their scout unit towards the tribal village and build their first settlement, Thebes, on a nice spot near a bend in the river Nile.
After zooming in to have a closer look at the settlement, we discover there's another luxury, spices, just south accross the river. As the border expands the egyptian people also discover some cows in the west which will help the city grow in the near future. Meanwhile Hatshepsut orders her scientists to work on a technology called mining, which is a prerequisite towards Masonry. Hatshepsut has a particul interest in Masonry as this will allow her to build one of the Great Wonders of the world.... the Pyramids! As the settlement is in need of protection Hatshepsut asks her Royal Guards to train warriors to protect the settlement from danger.
In 3960 AD the egyptian scout enters the tribal village and is gifted 69 gold from the local villagers as an aid to the Egyptian people.

nice keep going

looking good so far. nice starting position with flood plains and hills, plus even some forests! could hardly ask for better.

Magnificent Idea for a pictured tale, well done

The year is 3760 BC, the egyptian warrior scout has moved north along the river Nile and discovered a coastline, following the coastline eastwards the warrior visits another tribal village. A free scout unit is willing to join the Egyptian Empire in its search for eternal glory. The Warrior will continue exploring the coastline, while the Scout is send landinwards.

3720 BC: Egyptian Scientists discover the secrets of Mining, meanwhile Hatshepsut's Spiritual advisor was able to convince his queen the importance and need of religion for the Egyptian people and the scientists of Egypt will start working on Mysticism, a secret that will eventually lead to the discovery of Polytheism and Monotheism.

3680 BC: The scout discovers another village at the beginning of what looks like a jungle... The village provides the Egyptians with a map of the area and indeed a large jungle is discovered with many valuable resources...such as bananas, gems and rice.

image006.jpg

3640 BC: Our scout meets another civilization and Hatshepsut is greeted by their leader, Huayna Capac of the Incan Empire. Will Hayna be a future ally? Or our worst enemy.... for now we want peace between our people.

image005.jpg

3600 BC: Hinduism is discovered in a far distant land, meanwhile our Scout finds another tribal village and upon visiting is gifted the secret of Mysticism! Research is changed to Polytheism, hopefully the Egyptian people will be the first to discover this tech as this will make Thebes a Holy City...

3520 BC: Thebes finished the training of a Warrior unit which is fortified in the city for defense. The city has grown to a size 2 city now and changed production to barracks, as soon as the city hits size 3 we'll change the production to a worker to improve the tiles around the city.

Will Hatshepsut succeed in being the first to discover Polytheism? How will the relationship between the Egyptian and Incan people develop? All of these questions cannot be answered...the future will tell.

To be continued...

In the year 3480 BC another leader, Bismarck of the German Empire, comes to greet us. Bismarck lands neighbours ours on the western border. We decide to make peace with Bismarck and leave him to his own business for now. We have other matters to deal with ourselves.

In 3440 BC our scout discovers another tribal village and is given the secret of Fishing. In 3360 BC we get the message that Buddhism is founded in a far and distant land... Hatshepsut's hope is now set to be the first to discover Monotheism. For now we need 5 more turns to discover Polytheism.

In 3320 BC our scout is attacked by a horde of wild Panthers! The scout barely survives and need 8 turns to heal.

image008.jpg

3280 BC : Yet another World Leader cross our path and we're welcomed by Cyrus, leader of the self proclaimed great Persian Empire! We make peace with Cyrus and send him off his way.

In 3160 BC our scientists discover the secrets of Polytheism, but before we can advance to Monotheism, we need to discover Masonry. Masonry is needed to build the Pyramids, so no big loss there.

A Worker is created in Thebes in the year 2960 BC, he starts building some farms on the Flood Plains around Thebes. City production is changed to another Warrior.

image009.jpg

2920 BC: Our Warrior discovers a dangerous group of Lions, looking for a nice Egyptian snack, hiding in the forests to the southwest. The Warrior unit, not affraid to fight, moves one tile south where he gets a defense bonus of 50% for being protected by the forest.

The next turn, in the year 2880 BC, the Lions attack, but our brave Warriors defeat the Lions. They take some damage and will take 4 turns to heal. The unit is promoted to Combat I level.

A new Warrior unit is trained in Thebes in 2760 BC, production is once again changed to Barracks untill the city has grown to size 4.

image010.jpg

Meanwhile our Scout has been healed but has spotted Panthers once again hiding in the jungle! This time our scout is smart enough to run and flees north, away from the Panthers!

In 2520 BC Thebes has grown to a size 4 city, production is changed from Barracks to our first Settler unit. It's about time we expand our Civilization and claim some more fertile grounds for the Egyptian people to prosper!

Good story man. I wish i could write a story like that but alls i want to do is game game game. So ill go through half the game till i actually post. Oh well.

2480 BC, a great year for the Egyptian People! Monotheism is discovered, and Thebes has become the holy city of Judaism! Our people have found a faith.
Animal Husbandry is the next technology our scientists are working on.

image012.jpg

Just north of the Persian borders our Warrior unit finds another tribal village. After having a closer look in the village, our warrior unit get ambushed by a tribe of Barbarians and is killed in the fight.

image013.jpg

In the year 2040 BC Thebes finished building a settler unit, one of our Warriors defending Thebes is grouped with the settler and send off to find a new City near the East Coast, marked by the X in the image above. It seems like an ideal location as it will have access to horses, clams, fishes and cows! It's a long trip though...hopefully the settler will make it before someone else does!

In 1960 BC the Egyptian Scientists discover the secrets of hunting and change their research towards Bronze Working.

Barracks are finished in Thebes in 1840 BC, now we can start working on the Pyramids! Our worker has meanwhile finished building some farms and roads on the floodplains and will now connect our stones asap. Once the worker has build a quarry on the stones resource and connected it to Thebes with Roads, the Pyramids will be build twice as fast!

image014.jpg

1640 BC, a Royal Messenger brings bad news to Hatshepsut from the settler send east! The Incan Empire has beaten the Egyptians at the Horses sweetspot. Huayna Capac must have liked the spot just as much as Hatshepsut! Rumours are Hatshepsut was so mad she threw the poor messenger before the crocodiles whom ripped the poor fellow apart.

image015.jpg

Luckily for Hatshepsut and the egyptian people, there's another sweetspot just north... On that site the city should get access to Clams, Fishes and cows... and maybe if Culture grows large enough we can claim the horses as well!

Bronze Working is discovered in 1560 BC, we change research towards Archery.

image016.jpg

1400 AD, Memphis was founded a few turns earlier on the spot indicated. The borders have grown! For a reason I don't know yet, our cities are producing Culture without a culture building being build in the city or a religion! Must have got something to do with the special treats of Hatshepsut, either the spiritual or the creative treat! Nice going...it now seems we have access to the horses as well, but unfortunately the borders of the Incan city expand soon after and reclaim the horses.

In 1360 BC we discover Archery and change to Writing.

Around 1200 BC our workers finally finished the quarry and connected the stones to Thebes! The Pyramids suddenly take only 24 turns to complete instead of the 52 turns before we had connected the stones!

1000 BC, Pastry build on the cows west of Thebes, production has been boosted once again and the Pyramids have only 13 turns left before completion! Hatshepsut is already celebrating this as victory! The Greatness of the Egyptian people will be known to the World! After the "incident" with the crocodiles, her advisors wisely decide not to tell her it might be too early to start celebrating....

This is my first time as well... I usually "rush" games like that as well. But this time I wanna make a tale, it's fun. The game takes a lot longer than usual to complete, but I hope to get some good feedback and ideas from this forum while playing this game.
