Introduction
With the release of Civ4 many players are going to be rushing to stores to purchase the new game. Some might like it so much, they might forget about Civ3.
My computer is quite slow and I can't run Civ4. I am going to try to make a Mod that keeps an interest in Civ3 going. After about maybe a half hour of messing around with the Civ3 Editor I have found a way to add Religions that are inter-changeable. These are unlike Rhyes Religions in his mod: They are preset and the user cannot choose. I have, however, found a way around that.
The Civ3 Editor
The Civ3 Editor can be difficult at some times but you can tweak to work your way. It is a very good tool as you can manipulate it at almost every screen. In fact the way to add Religion really only requires tampering with the City IMprovements tool!
Adding Religions
Go to your city improvements tab. Religions only require a worshipping improvement (i.e. Cathedral, Mosque) and a Tech. Lets take Christianity for an example. We can have Christianity unlocked at Theology. Create a Small Wonder called: State Religion: Christianity. Make the Wonder Place a Cathedral in every city. Under the special abilities check the "Replaces all imp. with this flag checked" for the Sate Religion Small Wonder.
This is usually used for Power Plants. For this aspect to work you have to uncheck every Power Plant with this feature (all of them). It would allow cities to have multiple power plants but it allows a larger aspect into the game.
You can use this State Religion until a Small Wonder called Freedom of Religion can be created. This allows you to build the Holy Improvements for multiple Religions. Just make the Mosque, Church and other improvements require this small Wonder.
Another thing can be Holy Wars. Make a Great Wonder called The Crusades, Jihad etc and make it require the specific State Religion. It would function like the Knights Templar Wonder in Conquests.
Pros:
Religions
Ability to change Religions
Allows for more creativity
Cons:
Multiple Power Plants can be built in the same city
What do you all think?
