No offence meant with that Swastika, it is purely meant for historical accuracy, if you feel offended do not download it

It's painted like a BF-109, but the model's still the Spitfire's. What's more, you'll want to remove all the insignia. Germans and Nazis aside, that's supposed to be the generic fighter, so it can't have country-specific markings.

Nice skin, though. :)

...unless its supposed to be a BF-109 in a scenario.

Are their meshes editable?

It looks great. Keep up the good work, Fëanor .

Huh. If I change the texture I'd make it more spitfire. everyone loves the spitfire.

spitfire rules!

@wotan
Not that i'm aware of, we are probably stuck to reskinning untill SDK comes out, though this is as far as my meager talents can go, when the time will come i'll leave the unit creation to those who have the proper skills.

@Lord Shadow, the insignia's IS what i added, if i remove that then it would be the generic one that comes with the game.... but you are right about it not really looking like a BF-109, though i think that in scenarios its a bit better than using the generic one, decals and skins is as far as we can go for now....

A version with one of those crosses between the cockpit and the tail and no camouflage (like in real BF-109's) might follow soon (but i would have to remove the camouflage pixel by pixel :( so dont expect too soon), maybe one with Soviet decals

Where's the thread on working with skins, extracting them, editing them and all that.

And is the little plane that circles the city when used to intercept... is it the same file as the one used for bombing and air-strikes? In other words, are there 2 files to edit or just the one?

1. There are several in the C&C forum, though i only looked around to see what programs they suggested, i tend to get headaches really quick when i try to follow a tutorial

2. Im pretty sure they use the same model

Looking good there... Some suggestions though.

1. Make the nose and tail yellow... many 109s had this done (I think it was to help with identification, similar to what the allies did with the invasion stripes).

2. Cockpit. The spitfire had a great cockpit with good visibility (except when looking backward). I don't think it would be hard to make the cockpit look like the boxier cockpit on the 109.

3. Change the camo pattern a little. The one you use (which is awesome if it's a spit) doesn't look that much like German camo. Try using less curves or adding splotches of dark paint on a lighter grey background.

Your skins are awesome, and I'm still playing around with changing camo myself through photoshop. Keep up the good work!

Well, the wings are wrong... 109s wings didn't come to a point at the end, they had an edge at the end of them... look for bf 109 on google images... cool stuff there... GJ I will prob never be able to make skins that good...

EDIT just noticed the tail is wrong...

Yeah thats definitely a Spitfire with the Swasticas painted on. I still like it however.

For Sid sakes people.. if you like it.. dl it.. if you don't.. don't dl it.. :goodjob: for any modders..

How do I install this unit as a different unit than the fighter? Does anyone know how to put seperate flavor units into civ4 yet. The reskin process should make the flavor unit community very happy.

Well... the tanks in the game has amarican markings ;)

Why is everyone criticizing him for something that's completely out of his control?

We - can't - change - the - models - yet. Period. He's working with what he's got as a temporary solution.

Once modellers are able to get in on the fun and make stuff from scratch, you can criticize the placement of every vertex in the model till the cows come home.

Thanks a lot for saying that. I hate all those guys who criticize the best job possible to do. This plane is the best reskin I have seen so far on this website.
When the SDK will be here, then all that kind of criticizing will be ok. Now, it's irelevant (I'm not sure of that word!)
